What A Difference A Year (And No Tom Brady) Makes: Miami Dolphins 38 New England Patriots 13
posted September 21, 2008 - 3:12pmTake away one player, and the coach's ability to cheat by stealing signals, thus knowing what play the opposition is going to call ahead of time; and suddenly the New England Patriots Vs. the Miami Dolphins match up turns around 180 degrees.
How bad is it for the Patriots? They hadn't lost a regular season game since 2006, ironically enough, to the Dolphins. The Dolphins, on the other hand, by winning this single game against New England, have matched their total wins of last years entire season. The Dolphin came up just short of having two running backs get 100 yards or more. Ricky Williams needed 3 yards for 100. Ronnie Brown had 135 yards and 4 running touchdowns, plus a passing touchdown as icing on the cake.
And what can you say about those Patriot fans? As their team was going in for halftime, down 21-6, they booed the team that has given them several Superbowls, a perfect regular season record last year, and a 21 game winning streak.
One can't help but get the feeling, they're going to be doing a lot more booing all season. Maybe they'll do better when Tom Brady gets back next season. And who knows? Maybe Coach Belichick will have found another way to cheat by then.
Why is he still allowed to coach? The whitewashing job by the NFL and the national sports media on that matter is embarrassing and shameful. The Patriots are dirty and they deserve the all the spankings they can get.
