The answer to the musical question, what do Becky Miller and Sarah Palin have in common, is, they are both former mayors of little known towns, and they both stretch the truth beyond recognition. Allow me to explain:

Becky Miller had been elected Mayor of Carrrollton, Texas, population 122,000. Sarah Palin was elected Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, population several thousand.

Becky Miller and Sarah Palin have been caught in what can only be called LIES.

Becky Miller made emotional campaign references to her brother killed in Vietnam. Her father said her only brother is still alive. She supplied a different name for the alleged slain brother, but he turned out to be black, while she is white. She said she had been a back up singer to Linda Ronstadt and Jackson Browne and was once engaged to Don Henley. Through spokespersons, all 3 entertainers denied knowing her.

When people caught on to her, she lost her popularity and Becky Miller is no longer the Mayor of Carrollton.

Sarah Palin's popularity is starting to slip as people are finding that her words, too, don't match reality. For instance, she said that she was against the "bridge to nowhere", a project costing hundreds of millions of dollars to a bridge to an island of 50 elite families who were unable to get to and from the island, except on their big boats, yachts and airplanes. The reality is she was a huge proponent of it.

She said she is against ear mark / pork barrel spending, yet even as Mayor of tiny Wasilla, she took frequent trips to Washington and used her charms and political wile to get tens of millions of dollars ear marked for her itty bitty city.

As Governor of Alaska, she upped the ante and made those ear marks look infinitesimal. Under her "leadership" Alaska is by far the largest per capita ear mark state in the nation. There isn't even a close second.

She claims to be fiscally adept and reform minded, yet as Mayor of Wasilla she used her power to push through a hockey rink on land the city didn't even have the rights to, leaving the citizens of Wasilla with a $27 million judgment and budget shortfall, as she went on to bigger and better things.

Regarding her speech at the Republican National CONvention, in which she repeated these and other lies, she later said the teleprompter broke down and she had to wing it. Many witnesses who could see the teleprompter the entire time have gone on record to say that it's simply not true. The teleprompter worked and she read her speech from it, as rehearsed and as planned. Some commentators expressed their concern that a person would lie about something as inconsequential as that. If she would lie about something that doesn't matter at all, they wondered, what would she do on matters that have political ramifications.

It's difficult to not ask why a conservative with professed family values would have so many kids and keep striving for higher and higher office when conservative family value people cite the importance of the mother in the home. Certainly that could be categorized as a lie of sorts.

Then there are the National Enquirer stories (the paper that broke the John Edwards affair) that cite an affair between Ms. Palin and one of her husband's former business partners. Plus Enquirer references to pregnant, underage, unwed teen daughter Bristol and 19 year old Track being big boozers and pill poppers, (and Track having a little vandalism problem) -- which admittedly veers from the topic of this article, which is about being a lying liar...But then again the way she has held up her family as being exemplary, there is deceit in that as well, so it's not entirely off topic.

Suffice it to say that when the people of the USA get all the information about Sarah Palin's pathological lying, the way the people of Carrollton got the information about Becky Miller, the love affair will be over. I believe the process is well under way.
