What Do Sea Turtles Eat?
posted June 9, 2008 - 2:49pmSea turtles as suggested by their name spend most of their time in the sea. They like to live in at the seas edge in the warm, shallow water.
There are many different types of turtles such as the Green turtle, Loggerhead turtle and the Hawksbill turtle. All turtles have different eating habits between each species. Some eat alot whereas other turtles don't eat for some time. Young turtles tend to not eat much and their food intake increases as they become adults.
Most turtles are carnivores they eat meat. Their diet will include crustaceans (crabs, shrimps and other shelled invertabrates). They also eat jellyfish and other small fish. The green turtle is a herbivore meaning they are a plant eater and don't eat meat. Green turtles will feed on coral reef, grasses and algae. The Hawksbill turtle is a omnivore, this means they eat a mixture of meat and plants. They will feed on jellyfish, sponges, crustaceans, and grasses on the sea floor.
