What to do With your Pennies

What to do With your Pennies

- Fill up a penny jar, then roll up your pennies and put it in an account. You might be surprised to know you could quite possibly save up for a vacation with your pennies - in a few years.

- Turn your pennies into quarters for parking

- Donate your pennies. World Vision has a bread-shaped box you can put your change in and when it's full you send the box in.

- Spend it. Put all your change in a jar, and every month or so, find the most imaginative ways to spend your pennies, for example going to buy a book at a thrift store, or an old map of New York at the flea market.

- Build a penny castle (like a toothpick house)

- Collect and organize them by state and year.

- Make jewelry with them - even better with foreign pennies.

- Collect pennies of the world.

- Penny art

- Penny tree - save you change to buy and plant a new tree

2009! Four NEW DESIGN Lincoln Pennies - Lincoln Bicentennial

+1 Good suggestions except for the one-suggestion of collecting them by state. There are no state-pennies. It was the quarters (1999 - 2008) which presented the individual states, five issued each year for ten-years. The only way to realize a sorting by states is to sort them by their mint marks. No mint mark for Philadelphia, "S" for San Francisco (1908 - 1955 & 1968 to date) and "D" for Denver (1910 to date). No other U.S. Mint has produced U.S. pennies. This year, 2009, is the 100th year of Lincoln Penny production, and 200th year celebrating the birth of America's 16th President, Abraham Lincoln. To commemorate this event the U.S. Mint will issue four special Lincoln Penny commemorative cents, one about every three months.
