What is dog bloat and how to avoid it?
posted November 24, 2008 - 3:05amDogs can get bloated from eating too much to quickly. When this happens their abdominal area can fill with fluid and air and causing bloat. This potentially could become a life threatening situation. Dog bloat is usually caused by exercising too soon before or after eating as well as eating from an elevated food station. If you find your pet has any symptoms including a fat tummy and starts to puke, your dog may have dog bloat. The only way to treat this is to eliminate the things that cause a dog to get bloated like feeding it regularity as well as maintaining what it eats. By doing so you will keep your dog feeling much better. Sometimes if the bloat gets too excessive, you may have to take the dog in for surgery or have a tube inserted into its stomach to remove the excessive amounts of fluid and air. This is in extreme cases, but could still spell a life threatening injury so make sure to take all necessary precautions before feeding your dog.
