What Happened To Infopirate.org ?
Are any of you Xomba-ites also members of Infopirate ?
Both Xomba and Infopirate are social bookmarking websites that share revenue. Members can recommend a website by writing a short summary of the website
including its link and posting it on Xomba, Infopirate or any other social bookmarking website.
Not all social bookmarking websites share revenue with their members. Xomba and Infopirate are examples of two websites that do share revenue.
Google ads that has been placed on the page or pages that you have posted your website recommendation along with its link. Xomba shares the Google revenue with members 50/50. This means that 50 percent of the time, Xomba receives the revenue and 50 percent of the time the revenue goes to the posting member. Infopirate uses the same method, but their revenue sharing is 80/20. This means that 20 percent of the time, Infopirate receives the revenue and 80 percent of the time the revenue goes to the posting member.
You can always count on making at least a few dollars or more every month from Xomba as long as you choose websites with popular subjects and use SEO techniques in your postings.
However, for the approximately the first six months of 2009, Infopirate members were making considerably more than just a few dollars. Infopirate members were raking in at least two hundred dollars a month, some even twice or three times as much. The fact that members were receiving 80 percent of the revenue sharing had something to do with it. But the main reason was that Infopirate had a very high Google page rank.
But suddenly, sometime in July, the Google page ranking of Infopirate was lowered drastically. Members of Infopirate began seeing their revenue severely decrease, in some cases down to less than a dollar a day.
Then, several days ago, the Infopirate website went blank. After clicking on their website, all users could see was a blank white screen.
Today, the Infopirate website is back up with no explanation as to what had happened. Everything on the website is not yet working properly. One can only assume that they have been working on the website and that it is still a work in progress. Who knows when Infopirate will be back to normal and who knows if the website’s page ranking will ever increase again.
Although the revenue sharing of Xomba is considerably less than that of Infopirate, at least Xomba always informs its members as to what is going on.
And Xomba’s page ranking has been going up……

Infopirate working
I think the site is up and going now. I just signed up, thought I'd give it a try. I like the option to post in languages other than English.
