What is a Hokie? That is the question tonight as the Orange Bowl is played between Virginia Tech and Kansas. Virginia Tech has the Hokie as the mascot, while Kansas refers to themselves as the Jayhawks. The Hokie Bird is similar to a turkey. The Virginia Tech mascot was originally the Gobbler.

Having lived in Virginia Beach recently for a year and a half, I found the Hokies to be people who did not know football existed before Michael Vick.
