What is an ideal diet for a pregnant women

In the first trimester the mother is not able to eat muchh as she suffers from nausea, vomiting and there's loss of appetite and this condition continues for about 120 days. She is asked to eat whatever she can.

SECOND AND THIRD TRIMESTERS:

Ideally, in thhe second and third trimester, doctors recommend that mothers should have as much food as possible as the foetus needs more oxygenated blood at this stage. The haemoglobin count of the mother's blood should be around 11. The level can be increased byy enhanced intake of iron in the form of tablets or by taking fruits and vegetables rich in iron. She should take a balanced meal comprising carbohydrates, fatty acids, minerals and vitamins. It is very important that she takes a lot of calcium in whatever form she can. Leafy green vegetables, milk, cheese, yogurt and pulses are ideal for her. Since there is greater appetite, she eats more and the tendency is to gain weight. From the third or fourth month, the mother starts putting on weight.

What is an ideal diet for a pregnant woman?

I shall avoid the temptation to suggest that a diet of sex, sex and then more sex would be good! (At least it would keep the man in the pregnancy interested!) I shall also avoid saying that sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll never did anyone any harm - 'cos that's blatantly untrue. Much the same as for a pregnant elephant springs to mind but once again - I shall leave this line well alone. Honestly though - this kind of blog makes me really annoyed. If you are not an expert (and forgive me - but you are not) it would be worth steering clear of making recommendations. Maybe it would be better to comment on what you may have read. I now feel as though I must clarify a few things. Firstly it is absolutely not guaranteed that a pregnant woman will suffer from 'morning sickness' and therefore will not be able to eat very much in early pregnancy. You also state that this period of sickness lasts for 4 and a half months. How ridiculous! (Yes - there is a more severe form of early pregnancy vomiting etc called Hyperemesis gravidarum which can last well into the pregnancy - but this is not common.) In the second and third trimesters (which - by the way you have not defined - so neither will I!) DOCTORS DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT THE PREGNANT WOMAN EAT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!!! This would be plainly ridiculous! Please - if you are pregnant and are wondering about your diet and general health - completely ignore the original post! It is completely wrong! A little knowledge... Pregnancy is not an illness and woman have been reproducing without help since Adam was a lad! If you are pregnant - listen to your body and eat what you feel you want or need. If you have questions - ask your midwife (UK) or doctor or obstetrician - nothing is too trivial or silly if it is bothering you. Please note - the latest advice in the UK is not to take health foods/supplements/herbal remedies/natural medicines without first discussing it with a healthcare professional. If you are pregnannt - have fun! Well done and good luck!
