What is Whoopi Goldberg's Real Name and Why did She Change her Name

Whoopi Goldberg's real name is Caryn Elaine Johnson. Many wonder why she had to change her name to Whoopi. Well, Whoopi was fascinated by the sound of Whoopi cushions.

Upon suggestion from her mother that no one would take the name Whoopi seriously, she decided to have Goldberg as her last name.
