What We May Think of as Good

What We May Think of as Good

All things work together for the good of those, who love God and are called according to his purpose.

According to this passage what do you think of the term ‘good’? Is it: God will rescue me from all my travails? God will make everything easy, because that is good? Will God make everyone at peace with me and I will have no conflicts because that is good? What do us humans think is good? What do you think of as good?

There can be a difference in what we think of good and God thinks as good. In God’s eyes is Holiness good? What about the ability to suffer and still maintain your joy, does God think that this is good? Does he reward those who suffer wrongly and maintain their joy? Does God think that correction and discipline are good?

349px-Crucifixion-Fisen.jpgA big division happens in the church of a pastor. He may think this is the most terrible thing that has ever happened. There was drama, and backbiting, and the pastor suffered pain in his soul. Yet, God loves purity and health, and may have been separating the cancerous cells out of the body God loves, whether by removing part of the church body out of the congregation or by moving the congregation out of the body.

A man gets brutally beaten and crucified, was this good? But God works together all things for the good, so that now we can access heaven through the blood of Jesus.

As seen above the reference ‘all things’ implies that good and also bad things may happen to those who love God. Look at what Joseph said, “You meant this for evil, but God meant (or turned) it for good.

So be joyful. You may have fire, you may have separation, you may have the pounding of an anvil, you may have persecutions, you may have tribulation, but God works all these things for those who love God and are called according to his purpose.
