What will you take with you to your grave?

What will you take with you to your grave?

What will you take with you to your grave?
When you die and of course we’re all going to die because it’s part of the human cycle, what do you expect to take with you to your grave? Are you expecting to take that new Mercedes Benz you just bought? Are you expecting to take that two million dollars you just won in the lottery? Are you expecting to take your PhD with you? Are you expecting to take your 18 room house? Well, reality is none of the above will fit in your grave. However, there is One thing that you will take with you to your grave. This is something you have been gathering since you were young and this is something huge. It will fit in your grave regardless of its size. Do you know what that is? Your Deeds. Your good deeds and your bad deeds. Your deeds are the only things that will last and they are the only things you will take with you.

You might be thinking, then what’s the point of getting an education, etc? Well, how will you get your deeds? By what you do in this world. If you make a million dollars and spend it on drugs, gambling, etc. obviously this million dollars you worked so hard for will give you a whole lot of bad deeds. Another example is if you work so hard for your degree and then use it to benefit society and please God Almighty, then obviously that PhD will serve you good. The degree itself will not go in your grave, but what you do with that degree will. If you use that degree to manipulate others and use it in all negative ways, then obviously it will not serve you good.

So what will you take with you to your grave?

I Might Eliminate Some Bad Deeds So, but Not in the Bigger Books

Sure, the Big Book will record that I wish goodness to all (through your daughter, in this case), but I won't become 'Emperor of the Known-Universe' if I blow my cash at every opportunity. That's what I don't like about Christianity: it makes "your" book and "my" book worthless by comparison to 'The Great Name's Book of Names.' So if I want someone to do something good for me (and thus good for all people in my future), the two questions I meet are "What's in it for me (them)?" and "What's in it for God?" Disagree? Agree

I'm with you Mythman - if anyone out there is giving away money, I'll be happy to collect and you would have done a good deed by feeding my daughter. You might even eliminate some of your bad deeds :)

I'm Not Saying 'Bad Deeds are Made "Good" by the Good,' ...

... but rather 'bad deeds are made real by the good-guys hate of them.'Disagree? Join to Defend Your Honor! My blog is worth $1,129.08

Good deeds Do Not justify the bad deeds

Mythman, No, if the good deeds outweigh the bad deeds, they do not justify the bad deeds. The bad deeds are there and we can't say we didn't do them. However, I believe that our good deeds will remove the bad deeds. Take a look at part of this verse from the Holy Quran, "Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds (i.e. small sins) *chapter 11, verse 114.* Again, this does not mean the bad deeds are at all or at any time justified, it just means if I do more good deeds, God will remove my bad deeds. God knows best...

Chris Doesn't See the Ends of `R Deeds

`E's thinking of the end results he can see and/or -directly connect to `r actions; but `e's totally okay with not-knowing, and so we don't need to explain it further to `m. Disagree? Join to Defend Your Honor! My blog is worth $1,129.08

I Actually Agreed with the Pun ... In Part ...

Budget it! You really should consider all your money "as good as spent;" that way you're less-tempted to give it away. (If you want to justify that, add a column to your budget for 'Givin` Away!') And there's also other ways to give away money: if you give it to me, you're helping me educate other readers in the truths of life, etc. Disagree? Join to Defend Your Honor! 'That Good Deeds Have to Outweigh the Bad' Justifies the Bad!

Further Extrapolation on the Simple Motto

Maybe thinking 'how you want them to remember you' is right in the eternal scheme of things, but I think you should focus on 'how they want themselves to remember you.' Disagree? Join to Defend Your Honor! My blog is worth $1,129.08

I noticed the pun...

Champagne, I noticed the pun in your first point, but I still wanted to put in my thought :)

Good and bad deeds.

Koyamanda, Good points, but also remember are bad deeds are also coming with us to our graves. So we should try to make our good deeds outweigh the bad deeds.
