What Xomba Features Do You Guys Want?

Hey everyone,

We're gearing up for a new poll and this one will center around new features that you guys want.

For instance, many of you have asked for a chat room.

Please drop a comment on this Xombyte letting us know what features would interest you. < p>

We'll pick the ones that are possible and create a poll with your answers.

That will give us an idea of what you guys want and how we should prioritize. :)

We'll put the poll up sometime next week.

Thanks. :)

Yes chat rooms would be awsome

Chat rooms would definitly speed up some info sharing between the members on this site. Thank you.

That's true of some chatrooms...

...yet I still would like to see one here. In fact, that's always been my numero uno to see get done. Either that or some kind of private-message room, in which one person invites only those she/he wants to chat with (which should cut down on the cut-downs). P.S. And not the sort of PM system you have currently.

IN theory...

In theory it is a good idea. But getting all the involved parties together at one time would probably be problematic and I could foresee the comments still needing to be posted in order for everyone to see the point the author is trying to make. Plus a chat room would be yet another area where we would need moderators to keep an eye on things and make sure nothing was getting out of hand. I'm opposed to the idea personally but I am just the slave labor :) Admin is the ultimate voice of course. Poised Guru Xomba Moderator

Multiple possibilities

There are multiple ways to achieve this. You could use the Category Browser from the left navi panel. You could use the Google powered site search available from the top "click to search" menu. You could use the Tag Search also available from both the "click to search" menu as well as the left navi panel under "tags." I hope that helps. Poised Guru Xomba Moderator

Searchable tags

I'd like to be able to search for keywords I'm interested in. Maybe I missed how that's done but I tried the obvious and it just gives me the same categories that are already down the left side of the page. Also, I agree with the poster upstream who said maybe a limit of three tags per Zombyte. I can see that some people are overusing tags so they'll come up in more searches.

The comment issue

I'm afraid there was a mix up with the whole comment thing. It is my fault. The comments will always be viewable by everyone who comes to the web site. However, only members may post or rate. This is because we want people to see we have a community here and by reading comments they might want to register and jump into Xomba. People will always criticize. I'm afraid that is a writer's life. If someone makes an ignorant comment then people who read it are going to know it is ignorant.

soundz like fun

I want a chat room like the one Annie wrote about, with love triangles & stuff. http://www.xomba.com/chatroom_love_triangle www.joesnare.com

About the nakedness...

I have 'flipped the switch' that had allowed anonymous users to see the comments. They are no longer authorized to do so. See, cmofi is not the only one that gets requests done. Now about that nakedness Cara... Poised Guru Xomba Moderator

An un-feature?

Something I was thinking about...could you make it so that non-Xombees can't see user comments? It used to be that way with the old website. And now for some reason everyone can see all our comments. I just feel that it takes away from the fact that this is "our" community. For example, I had a friend who had read one of my posts and then commented negatively on it based on one of the user comments (this is how I was tipped off to the fact that non-users are able to view them). I actually felt violated in a way - as if non-Xombees can now see us naked. Now its as if membership is not even required.

On second thought

I think having a discussion or chat board would be good idea, not that I would use it, as mostly I would not. But a lot of the articles posted seem to turn into more of a chat or discussion that go on and on and I believe as a result a lot of other really good articles, information and writing posts from all genre get ignored, or overlooked. So maybe if there were a chat or discussion board once an article is posted. They can contact the poster to go to chat concerning their on going arguements or debates rather than posting comment after comment on the main xomba article pages. I think it would clean up the boards considerably or hope it would.
