What you need to know about stroke

We know that the number one killer in the world right now with respect to diseases is heart attack. The second is Cerebro Vascular Accident or commonly known as stroke.

A stroke occurs when part of the brain does not receive enough oxygen or is not supplied with oxygen due to a block or due to bleeding.

Such situations if not treated early can be devastating and will obviously lead to coma or even death. The least thing that could happen would be paralysis.

Considering this situation, it is important to take note of the different syptoms of stroke. Knowing these will surely help us and make us make the necesarry actions to prevent further harm to the victim.

Symptoms of Stroke:

  • severe headache
  • blurred vision
  • weaknes on one side of the body
  • slurred speech
  • Nausea
  • Dizinness

If you encounter situations like these, immediately seek medical help right away. Position the victim with the head slightly elevated than the body. This will perhaps lower the pressure of blood in the brain.

Monitor the breathing and pulse. Usually when the patient suffers cardiac arrest and respiratory arrest, the best solution would be is to provide CPR. To know more about CPR click here.
