What Is Your Purpose For Living?

Do you know what your purpose in life is? Everything exists for a purpose. Everyone needs to do or accomplish something during their lifetime on this earth in order to feel "alive", as I quote in my online profiles: "We Are All Destined For A Purpose In Our Lives".< p>

From the moment we were born, our primary purpose was to breathe, eat and grow. Then when we started attending school, our purposes were to study hard, get good grades and hopefully get enrolled in a good college. After college, our purposes may include finding a decent job with a stable pay, or get married and start a family. It all seems so typical when society has it all planned out for us. However, do you really feel happy with the life that you are leading now? Do you think it is meaningful or do you wish for some changes in your life...?

If you prefer to slump down on your couch every day watching TV, that isn't a life. If you go to work every day without enjoying it, that isn't much of a life. If you get tired of doing the same old repetitive things each day, that isn't a life either. If you work in the same office without getting a promotion or a raise after 5 years, that life surely sucks! As people always say to those who don't seem to have any purpose in life: "Get a life, man!" Seriously, if you aren't interested in doing anything that serves any meaning in your life, then I suggest you get up and run into the wall in front of you.

It's pretty easy to picture what a meaningful life looks like. I'll state an example: There are two men named Chester and Earl. Chester is the CEO of a company and leads a posh lifestyle, while Earl has a moderate income working as a tourist guide. Chester drives his Mercedes to work every morning, attends meetings and conference dinners and drives back to his empty bungalow at night. Earl, on the other hand, travels all around the world and gets to experience the different sights and sounds from different countries while making new friends and taking pictures of the local attractions. Which one of these would you think is a meaningful life?

Don't blame God or anyone for making your life so boring or miserable. You can take control of your own life; don't submit to whatever that is holding you back from enjoying life. Quit that dead-end job you've been working for years. End that relationship if your partner doesn't really care about you. Attend church every week. Go traveling with your friends. Try paintball. Or just go wild celebrating the new year. "Life" stands for Live-Interestingly-For-Entertainment!

Here's a tip: try to discover your hidden talents by approaching every opportunity that comes along your way, such as attending a dance party. If you have the talent of dancing, you should be able to dance naturally by copying somebody's dance moves! Everyone has his or her own special talent, whether it be in sports, academics or music. Make use of your talents, and you are bound to have a successful and meaningful life. Live your life to the max!

Both of Earl's- AND Chester's-Lives Are Meaningful

Sure, Chester's got responsibilities that make him a little hard to follow; but they wouldn't have fallen to him if he couldn't handle them! Friends just fail you anyway ... that's not entirely true; they CAN save you, but they'll fail miserably if saving you means risking their own comfort. ---Uncle MythMan of the Professional Friends who GET MONEY for Echoing the Universe (the Wonderful World Above & the Beauty Amidst)
