What is your dream destination??
posted August 18, 2009 - 7:26pmThis is kind of a personal story. But I can't be the only one that has dreamed of the ultimate vacation. My husband and I have always planned and tried (key word TRIED) to save for a vacation. Its one of those things thats always in your future, but has not arrived yet. When I got married we paid for our own wedding which did not leave much leftover for the honeymoon. Which was fine cause we felt like he were honeymooners anyways. But a couple years past and then we started talking about having kids. Well the plan was to have our first child and then take our vacation by the time our child was 1yr old. (that sounds pretty silly now that I am writing it). Well our first born was a beautiful baby girl whom is now 13. (yikes) Not to mention there is a second child as well. Another little girl whom is 8 yrs old and I just love them both to death. Well what happened to the vacation for just the 2 of us. The honeymoon??? Its been 15 yrs of marriage now and still going so strong with or without the honeymoon, howvever it is still on our wish list. Now our vacation planning consists of Disney Charactors and a trip to Florida (YIPPIE). You know time really flys after having children. Anyone with children can attest to that. We have taken the occassional trip to Las Vegas which our girls love as well. We are from San Diego and Las Vegas was only 4 hours away so that was always our destination for a getaway. Especially since VEGAS, believe it or not, has so many atttractions for kids these days. We spent time in the Circus Circus Amusement Park which was great for the girls, or walking the strip and watching the pirate show at Treasure Island. We also visited the M&M factory and took a elevator up to the Eiffel Tower. I am sure the real thing is much more spectacular but this was as high as I could probably go anyways (If I feel any swaying whatsoever I am done). Well we now live in Colorado as of 4 yrs ago and have only been to Vegas a couple of times. Its become a great place to meet all our San Diego relatives.
So do you think I willn ever get my dream vacation? Its not the t ypical Hawaii, or bahamas, or a cruise but in fact NEW ZEALAND. I want to go somewhere absolutely breathtaking. I don't want to look back and say "yes I partied in Vegas", but I want to have memories and picures of a place that my husband and I shared together. I want to take a guided trip to see glaciers, walk the tracks of one of New Zealands biggest volcanos, or even view the geysers and mudpools. (Who is with me here??) I suppose this will always give me something to dream about and look forward to, but when it will happen is as good a guess as mine. But the one thing I do know is I do not regret anything thus far. When our girls are grown and on their own, that will be me and my longtime love's first priority. But for now its me, my husband and our beautiful girls.
