The ps3 update 2.1 is being released today ( 18th dec 07 ) and has a whole lot of cool features !!
your PS3 system needs to have at least 120 MB of free space. The new features of this ps3 2.1 update are as follows:

* A cool new voice changer feature
This has been added to video or voice chat, you can now change the tone of voice upto 5 different levels in this update. Change your tone during voice or video !!

* Video
DivX and WMV VC-1 codecs are now added to the type of files that can be played but be warned that you cannot play copyrighted files of Divx 3.11 anymore. Blu-ray disc profile 1.1 is now supported in ps3 2.1

*Music
ps3 update 2.1 offers enhanced audio playback and supports Type 3

* Added BD data utility has been added in this new 2.1 update
