What's Next?! Viewing Paris Hilton's Private Items on the Web

Despite all the attention Paris Hilton has gotten in the last few years, some folks just can't get enough. Well, these Paris-lovers now have a whole new treasure trove to obsess over, because there's a new Web site that claims to offer views of an absurdly broad range of the hotel heiress's personal belongings. And Paris Hilton has now fired back with a lawsuit to shut the site down.

Going live on Tuesday, January 23rd with the titillating title ParisExposed.com, the site posts a breathless array of All Things Paris that were left at a storage facility in the Los Angeles area. The thousands of items were allegedly bought at auction by an unidentified purchaser after a third party didn't make payments on the storage space.

Hilton's handlers on January 30 filed a lawsuit seeking to shut down ParisExposed and get the belongings returned. Hilton was said to be "shocked and surprised" to learn that her belongings and those of her sister Nicky were being displayed at a public action. "I was appalled to learn that people are exploiting my and my sisters' private personal belongings for commercial gain," Hilton said in support of the lawsuit.

On Friday, February 3 a federal judge has issued a temporary injunction against ParisExposed.com, which temporarily bars the site from releasing Hilton's Social Security number, health data, and other personal information.

After all the publicity and scandal that Paris Hilton has brought upon herself in a few short years, I'm shocked and surprised that she can actually be shocked and surprised about anything!

You'd think someone of Hilton's notoriety would want to make sure that her personal items were stored in a secure place, which would be paid up so the items don't fall into the hands of the great unwashed masses. But hey, we're talking about Paris here, the woman whose sex tape became an Internet phenomenon, who lost her cell phone with a gazillion phone numbers and addresses of Hollywood movers and shakers, etc.

So what was Paris keeping in that 6,000-square-foot storage facility? No dead bodies or anything, but ParisExposed.com claims to have everything from sex videos and love letters to diary entries, photos of young Paris, receipts and bank statements, recorded phone conversations, and thousands of phone numbers of celebrity friends (who we hope are a bit more careful than Ms. Hilton about securing their personal property).

ParisExposed.com promises never-before-seen sex videos as well as hundreds of other videos, including a "sexy bubble bath" video, and "drug use that makes Tony Montana look like a missionary."

But wait, you'd probably say, there must be a catch! Well, you'd be right: you'll have to pay a monthly fee of $39.97 to join the "Paris Exposed VIP Club" and view the items on the site. This supposedly gives you searchable access to all the Paris items, updates as more materials are scanned in, and apparently a chat room to share your delight and fascination with new online Paris-holics you'll meet at the site.

For the true aficionado of celebrity detritus, this will certainly be the equivalent of Robert Ballard's expeditions to the Titanic. At least until somebody starts offering the trunk contents of some old car once owned by Britney Spears.
