When Can You Say You are Going to Have a Heart Attack?
posted January 27, 2008 - 12:12pmIn medical terms, a heart attack is a myocardial infarction which occurs when a fatty, atherosclerotic deposit or a blood clot suddenly blocks one of the coronary arteries, cutting off blood and oxygen from the section of the heart muscle directly supplied by that particular artery.
The lack of oxygen causes the cells in the affected portion of the heart muscle to die. Symptoms of a heart attack includes a severe, crusing pain in the centre of the chest which persists. It may radiate to the back, neck, jaw or arms, and is sometimes accompanied by nausea and perspiration.
