When Relationships Break Up What Do You Do?
posted February 18, 2009 - 12:36pmWhen relationships break up what do you do? Well... it depends whether you did the breaking up or if it was your ex, and also, if you're happy for your relationship to break up or not.
Sometimes you break up with your ex, and later regret your decision. Sometimes your ex breaks up with you and you were not ready for it, or wanted it. Then again, sometimes it is just the best thing to do. Not every relationship is meant to last.
If you want to get your ex back, then you need a workable plan of action if you want to stand any chance of success.
The natural things your likely to do are:
Beg your ex to come back, maybe begging them to come back every chance you get.
Demeaning yourself and beg your ex to forgive you, whether it was your fault or not.
Text them all the time.
Call them all the time.
Tell them you can't live without them.
Try and anticipate where your ex is going to be, and be there as well.
Ask their friends or family to help.
In general, appear as a needy, desperate stalker.
If you think that any of the above are going to help you in the slightest... think again. Behaving like that will guarantee that your ex will do everything in their power to avoid any contact with you. It will drive your ex further away than they are at present.
Besides, do you want your ex back because they feel sorry for you? Or, do you want your ex back because they want to be with you?
I thought so, forcing your ex to be with you by using guilt or some sort of emotional blackmail, if it works at all, certainly wont work for very long.
The best way to get your ex back is probably the opposite of what you want to do, but this really is the best first step. Give your ex some time away from you, give them some space.
Why should this help get your ex back?
Well... human beings, being what they are, tend to forget the bad things in life and remember the good bits. At the moment, the bad bits are overpowering the good bits, it's the bad that is most obvious in your ex's mind. A little time apart will shift this balance and make the good stand out more than the bad.
Also, at the moment feelings and emotions are are all over the place, for both of you. Being apart will allow them to subside and let both of you think and remember more clearly.
Some time apart will let you re-appraise your relationship and help you to discover what really went wrong, it is not always what you think of first.
If you have been doing all the wrong things so far, you will have to stop doing them... now! If you want to get your ex back, you will have to make them confident in you and your behaviour. You have to let your ex know that you are now comfortable with the break up and are ready to move on with your life.
I know, that seems all wrong, doesn't it? The thing is, it is really important that you do it. Once your ex realizes that you both can be in the same company with each other, and that there will be no outbursts or fighting when you are, then your ex will be more inclined to contact you.
Yes! They will contact you, if you go about things the right way.
What will you do when they contact you? How will you handle it?
