Where to Apply for Credit Cards

Searching for credit cards online can be overwhelming. You may notice on any given search engine, over 6 million results. So how do you know where to apply for credit cards?

The first place I highly recommend you look is your local credit union, or your employer credit union. Credit unions generally have lower interest rates, and better terms.

What you'll find, if you go to a credit card comparison website, are hundreds of credit cards sorted by credit ratings, rewards, interest rates, balance transfer offers and more. The best credit card websites have up-to-date information on the current rates of the card, features of the credit cards, teaser rates, and the length of the teaser rates, annual fees if any, and any other pertinent information.

In my opinion, if you apply directly through the bank for credit cards, they seem to be the hardest to get approved for, unless you have immaculate credit, I wouldn't recommend applying for these cards.

In summary, check with your credit unions first. If they don't have the specific credit card you are looking for, or they don't approve you, then search a credit card broker site for the right credit card that fits your financial situation.
