Where are the parents???

Where are the parents???

This world has become quite a scary place to live. Everyday you hear about new kidnappers, rapists, murderers, and the children that fall victim to these less than humane characters. While I feel alot of sympathy for them, I also wonder if it all couldn't be prevented. I realize that some things are simply impossible to prevent. I also know that there are some parents out there that keep a very close eye on their youngsters, and yet they still manage to fall prey to these sick individuals. However, I see far too many teenage girls prancing around malls and streets dressed like call girls, with their short skirts, revealing tops, and 3 inch thick eyeliner. Where are the parents?? Myspace is a prime location to find these little hoochie teeny-boppers. There are 13 year old girls wearing little to nothing, posing in such ways as to say "come and get me". Again, where are the parents? Teenage girls can be hard to keep up with and even harder to understand, but at some point these parents have got to take some responsibility for what their children do. When did it become more important to be the "cool parent" rather than to keep your kids safe? Put a freakin lock on your computer for GOD sake!!! Where do you think predators find their victims?! When I was little, my dad caught me on a phone chatline. He locked up every phone in the house, had the chatline blocked from our phones, took away every privilege I had, and told me numerous times about the kind of people that look for little girls on there. Never again did I get on the chatline. I was too scared to. Now, you see these little girls baring all on myspace, and their moms are their top friend on there. All I am saying is... for all of you Dina Lohan's and Lynn Spears' out there... this may all seem like no big deal now, but what if your daughter becomes the next victim? What if their picture on the internet resulted in their picture on the 6 o'clock news? Use your heads. Monitor what your children do. It is your job to be a parent, not a friend. If you can manage being both, then great, but your first priority should be to keep them safe!!

Parents today spend way to much time being a "friend" and not enough time being a parent.

I agree with you totally. It's really sad. I guess a pretty face isn't good enough any more. They gotta let it all hang out.

need to be uncomplicated simple parents - for whatever the kids may think - they still need parents...absolutely agree jaDav, too much of liberty given to children these days.

... I thought the same as I saw some children on the street: where are the parents? They was there, but they didn't saw what the children was doing! It was dangerous for the children and they just didn't move.

I am also wondering why parents are so lenient in giving instructions or even reminders to their teen agers? specially their daughters. If there are problem teen agers in our society today, who else could be blamed? I think, parents should wake up, this is their main responsibility.

I agree totally I don't what is wrong with these parents, these days they are just letting their teens run a muck. I always tell my girlfriend hats off to you, she has 2 teenage boys and it is amazing how well-mannered the young men are. They have never given her a days trouble--I contributed to how she raised them.
