Which Country is the Best to Live In 2009

MSNBC recently reported that Norway holds the number one spot for the best country to live in, they say the people in Norway enjoy the highest quality of life.  On the oppositte side of the spectrum Niger has been reported the very worst place to live.  If you are wondering "how did the United States rank?"  the answer is 13th, not the best ranking yet far from the worst.

There are many different variables which the the annual Human Development Index research to determine the best countries to live. 

-Life expectancy

-Literacy

-Number of students enrolled in schools

-Amount of per capita income

In 2007 Australia and Iceland topped the list.  Since 2007 Iceland has been hit hard with economic crisis.

The countries that have moved up the ladder at least 15% since 1980 are China, Iran and Nepal.  Progress in these countries has been concentrated in education and health, rather than income.
