Whining in America....Really?

You know I had the perfect idea to write a scathing expose on how America has turned into a bunch of fat, whiny, pussies that sit around and complain about everything in life...But then that would be whining. Instead I am going to tell you that I just sat out on a back porch in a hostel in a tiny little town in the middle of Alaska on a cold night, listened to the best blues I think I have ever listened to in my life and just swung back and forth and looked up at the night sky. I had so many harsh things to say about the state of laizzez faire in this country when I have been hiking along the side of the most incredible view of Mt. Mckinley that was so breathtaking I couldn't begin to describe it. I could complain about how people have lost the art of conversation when I have talked to the most incredible and the most gifted people this country has to offer. You see I could sit here and whine about a lot of things but I can't think of thing. Its amazing how I have begun the process of becoming one of those people who actually do things instead of talking about them. It is an amazing experience to jump out of ones own comfort zone and meet people who do it on a daily basis. Not just young people in Alaska but it seems to be everyone I meet. I find it amazing to talk to an eighty year old man who one day packed everything up, moved to Alaska and decided to live in a little cabin with no electricity and no heat. To talk to a couple over forty who got tired of the rat race in New York and just decided to travel for the hell of it leaving everything behind. You know something being a city guy from Houston, Texas means nothing if you just can't enjoy the magnificance that we have been given. Thanks Alaska for showing me your beauty in your landscape and the scrappiness of the people who choose to live here. To those of you that choose to whine and complain about your lives be my guest. I am not going to stop you. Just let the rest of us enjoy our lives.
