Whispers

Ok, I guess that I am just going to have to live with them.  The Voices that is.  Oh, I'm not crazy, its just that these guys won't shut up.  They never give me a moment's peace.  At first they were just annoying insect-like buzzes in my ear.  Now they are loud and clear always asking the same question.

What question? Well, about a week ago I told them that I could not take it anymore and that they should go bother someone else.

"No problem" one of them said.

"We just need you to do one thing for us and then we'll go away" said another.

At that point I was willing to do anything to get rid of them - they were driving me crazy.

"What would that be?" I asked to the open air.  You see, I don't talk to them in my head.  I actually have to hear my voice - weird, I know.

"We need you to release us" said the first one.

"How do I do that?"  I asked assuming they were talking about being released into another world - heaven or hell so to speak.

"We just need you to repeat the following words just as we say them."

"That's it?"

"Yep. that's it!"

"Well, hell, I can do that."

"So repeat after me - Dduw."

"Dduw"

"No, no.  Say it with a little more punch.  Like you were calling to someone. Dduw!"

"Dduw!"

"Good. gollwng."

"Gollwng!"

"hyn"

"Hyn!"

"chythreuliaid"

"Huh?"

"chythreuliaid"

"Chythreuliaid!"

"acha hon"

"Acha hon!"

"byd"

"Byd!"

"Now all together - Dduw, gollwng hyn chythreuliaid acha hon byd"

"
Hey, what am I saying anyway?"

"Your just saying to release us and hopefully God will hear you."

"Oh, Ok. Dduw, gollwng hyn chy........um....wait a minute.  I've heard that word before.  My grandmother from England used call me and my brother that - she said it meant demons.  Are you guys demons?"

"Do we sound like demons?"

"No, not really."

"Well, there you go."

"But I don't know what a demon sounds like so I really wouldn't know."

"Look, you want us to go away, right?"

"Yeah."

"Well, this is how you do it."

"But what am I saying?"

"Hell if I know.  We just were taught that this is how we get released."

"Taught that by who?"

"Excuse me?"

"Who taught you that phrase?"

"Uh......hmmmm.....good question.  Don't really know.  Maybe we just always knew it."

"I doubt that.  I bet someone did teach you it and you just don't want to tell me."

"Now, why would I do that?"

"Because you are trying to trick me."

"Me?  I would never do that.  Don't you want to get rid of us?"

"Yeah.  But not if something bad is going to happen."

"What could happen?"

"I don't know - what could happen?"

"Well, you could release us and then we would be on our merry way."

"Where are you going?"

"Uh...."

"Yeah, that's what I thought.  No, I won't be releasing you."

Well, that was a week ago and they are still with me.  Everyday they ask me to say the phrase.  All day long "Say the phrase".  I just ignore them - I don't even talk to them anymore.  Everyone has a burden, right?  I guess this is mine.

You amaze me once again.

Your story always have this surprising effect that surely leaves the reader wondering at times hoping to get more after reading. Great articles.

Thanks

Thank you guys - kinda exploring this dual personality/hearing voices thing right now - don't know where it will lead but it is fun writing about it.  Kinda fits in with Split and Co-Workers as a trilogy.  We'll see....

I hear voices too

yes, I too have these annoying voices in my head that I just can't seem to get rid of. Should I try to ask them to leave too and for the secret "code" that will make them leave forever?.....Very well narrated story. I loved it.
