Who Else Will Like to Know How to Manage And Control Eczema?

Eczema is one skin infection that is difficult to cure and its irritating nature leaves people with eczema wondering if they will ever find a lasting solution to their predicaments. If you have been suffering from eczema and you have tried many methods to no avail, you should not despair as results from recent research shows that eczema may become a skin infection of the past.

It does not matter the type of eczema you have and the nature of your skin, the treatment of eczema is basically the same. When you have eczema on your skin, you will feel uncomfortable as a result of the itching you will experience from time to time. This can be reduced or minimized by the use of emollients.

Emollients are non cosmetic moisturisers which come in different forms. You can have emollients in the form of creams, lotions, ointments and gels. They are effective for preventing itching, cracks in the skin and they make the skin to be flexible by moisturising it.

Out of the different forms of emollients, creams are the most preferred by people with eczema. The reason for this special preference is because it can be applied in the day time and it does not affect day time activities. Creams contain fat and water in varying proportion and they are light and cool when applied on the skin. Although, creams are effective for the management and control of eczema, they however, contain preservatives which can cause skin sensitivity. This is not very common among people with eczema.

Lotions are another form of emollients and they are not as effective as cream for the control and management of eczema. They contain too much of water and low fat. It is this property that makes it to be very good when you apply it on hairy parts of the body. It is important that you use it on hairy parts of the skin as it has the ability to penetrate the various hair strands down to the surface of the skin.

Ointments are also forms of emollients that are used for the treatment and management of eczema. They are greasy and do not contain preservatives. You may want to reject it on the ground of its non cosmetic property but when faced with eczema leading to dry and thickened skin, you may want to consider it as it is very good in this aspect. It can hold water for a very long time and this makes it better than the others when it comes to preventing the skin from cracking.

You may want to ask, if I have eczema, can’t I use soap? Yes, you can use soap but it is emollients soap which is a substitute of the normal soap. They don’t cause itching as the ordinary soap does. When ordinary soap is used for washing and bathing, it causes itching. You should equally avoid perfume products as they will cause the same effects.

When you want to have your bath, or you want to wash or you are in water, you should use emollient soap. It is effective for the control and treatment of eczema. Bath oil is another soap substitute which is irritating to people with eczema due to that fact that it produces bubbles. When used on a daily basis, it washes and removes skin debris and can cause infection. You can use the different types of emollient gels which are available. The recommendation of your Doctor or Nurse at this point will be very useful. Since there is no single product that is exclusive to the treatment of eczema, you can try as many emollients as possible till you find the one that you like.

In order for you to have good result from the application and usage of emollients, for controlling and managing of eczema, you must take into consideration the way and manner you apply them. You should avoid excessive use of emollients and should be applied after you had your bath. Since water is still in your body, it will enhance hydration and keep your skin cool. At least you should use it three times a day and should be gently apply. If applied vigorously, it may cause itching as a result of the damage made to the hair follicles. You should not discontinue the usage of emollients as soon as you noticed improvement in your skin conditions. Discontinuing it will cause the skin to flare up.

Bringing your eczema under control is not something that is impossible. Results from researches have made it possible for the availability of different products and you are at liberty to try different products until you find the one that is suitable and ideal for your skin. When you find the one that is good for your skin, you are on your way to finding a lasting cure for your eczema.
