Who Wants To Live Forever?

Who Wants To Live Forever?

I'm currently watching the third Pirates of the Caribbean, and it got me thinking (don't worry, I won't spoil the movie for ya). Seriously, if you even had the option, would you want to live forever?

Life really only has meaning for us, specifically because it ends. Even knowing that, we tend to take it for granted (at least, on occasion).

In knowing that our time in this life is limited, we come to appreciate the time we have. If it went on forever, what would there be to truly appreciate? Never mind the fact that it would be just plain boring.

And yet, though we may understand that all life must end in order to start anew and give life itself meaning, we search endlessly for ways to cheat death.

We fear that which we do not know, and death is the ultimate in the realm of the unknowable. Rather then looking at it through the eyes of Peter Pan, "death will be an awfully big adventure (smile spread across face)", we look at it as something we should waste our precious little time futilely attempting to figure a way out of.

OK ok .... ok!

Sure I prolly wouldn't mind (if i had all the tools etc) I will just pack up my loved ones and go to Mars maybe, there is enough time and space for that *LOL* If you would like to chat, join here: http://home.wanadoo.nl/mqs/ladykenai/chat.html “Begin doing what you want to do now. A true nightmare

Walmart on a Saturday afternoon. Yuck! Those damn idiots holding up the line while somebody packs their pressure wares into their car -- all so they can get their space and save themselves a couple of hundred feet of walking. Wait, I think I already ranted about this in another thread some weeks ago. Sorry, I didn't mean to do a Seinfeld. :) ↑ Grab this Headline Animator Join Xomba

Exactly

I'm becoming more of a minimalist as I get older. I just don't need all that unnecessary stuff cluttering up my life.

Interesting...

I don't know, I think insomnia makes me feel philosophical. I imagined both possibilities (alone, or with others). Alone would be absolute torture! With others might not be quite so bad. I was kind of going off the idea of having the ability. IF the body, tools, etc. were present, would you really want it? That kind of thing. I'm looking forward to reactions too. :) Losing Weight and Feeling Great! A Day in the Life of a Pagan Parent The Funtabulous Stuff of the 80's

That's right up there with...

kjhack, that's right up there with "You can't have everything--where would you put it?" DO YOU HAVE THE WRITE STUFF?

Parking

Can you imagine how hard it would be to find a parking space if everyone lived forever? :( ↑ Grab this Headline Animator Join Xomba

We are "never" satisified it seems :)

But are we going to live forever by ourself or with others? Haha I guess that would be the other question. No I don't think I would want to live forever. I am never bored, but I just think we don't have the right tools for it, body, etc .... will love to other reactions :) If you would like to chat, join here: http://home.wanadoo.nl/mqs/ladykenai/chat.html “Begin doing what you want to do now. Cell memory

Two of my favorite authors are Sylvia Browne and Doreen Virtue. They both discuss cell memory and how things that happened to you in past lives can manifest themselves in this life. For instance, a woman who was beheaded at the guillotine during the French Revolution at age 22 may find she has unbearable neck pain from unknown causes once she hits that age in this life. Birthmarks can be another manifestation, often of burns or wounds suffered previously. What I have learned is that I've never ever taken care of a child before my son was born. Not in this or any previous life. My lives as men had me working or doing other things outside the home, leaving the child's mother to raise him or her. In my lives as a woman, I had servants or nannies to take care of my children so I didn't gain any experience from doing it myself. Some people seem "natural" at it, which comes from a lot of experience in previous lives. DO YOU HAVE THE WRITE STUFF?

Within the idea of reincarnation,

I would say that there is a reason we don't remember every single physical life we may have had. I know that I, for one, would quickly become very bored, and I frankly don't want to remember how many times I may have made "poopy in my pants". LOL. So, for me, I just can't understand why one would want to live the same life forever, which is what I was really getting at. With the idea of living many lives, well you start anew, with little recollection (if any), and you live an entirely different life. There's no boredom there or taking loved ones or your life spent for granted, because everything (save, ofcourse, your soul/spirit) fresh, and different. Losing Weight and Feeling Great!
