Why are we buying the HD groove?

It’s been a few years since this HD wave has hit us. It seems that we like it and we are buying it because we are told it is better and because it is way more expensive and it is new. Everything is crisper and why exactly is that better? Why do we need to see things so crisp that they appear unnatural? Things were fine before this nonsense about high definition. No one needs to see every actor’s pimples and out of place hairs, make up artists and lighting designers spend a ridiculous amount of time trying to cover faults and now they are made even more obvious. Today’s society is obsessed with perfection. This notion was already achieved on camera, why are we taking steps backward?
