Why I don't buy DVDs

Why I don't buy DVDs

Do you purchase DVDs?

I don't. I never watch them.

My process is as follows: I rent the movies that I want to see at a video rental store. You all know which rental store that is. Now, occasionally I buy a DVD of the movies that I really like. But I already know they are keepers after I see them in the movie theatre.

But recently the list of keepers has been dwindling. It is a trend in movies recently. Most of them suck. It's sad but true.

So after I rent the movies that I wanted to see, I generally watch them once and then return them. I simply don't have the time these days (what with work and life and a commute) to watch a movie twice. So why buy DVDs? I have had Netflix before and I am currently subscribing to the other large corporate video rental chain's DVD mail service. But the problem is all the hot DVD'--the new releases and even older popular films--are all available after a short wait.

You can't win.

So I don't buy DVD's anymore, nor do I rent them. Instead, I invested in TiVO.

Well, except in the case of Nacho Libre. I bought that DVD. Me gusta mucho.

And the Soprano's season 6--if you haven't seen that, you really should.

i think...

you need a credit card for that. and i'm on the "don't give him one of those he'll just jack it up" lists.

have you tried having them mailed to you?

Blockbuster has a pretty good program where you can get three DVDs at a time delivered to your home and in addition you can take them into any blockbuster store and exchange them for any video they have in stock there. they send the dvd in the mail for you. you get twice the amount of dvds this way.

always have to rent before i buy...

and i rarely go to see a film in the theatre either. AND if i can get it this way, i'll rent it from the library for free. =p
