Why I don't buy DVDs
posted December 7, 2006 - 2:05pmDo you purchase DVDs?
I don't. I never watch them.
My process is as follows: I rent the movies that I want to see at a video rental store. You all know which rental store that is. Now, occasionally I buy a DVD of the movies that I really like. But I already know they are keepers after I see them in the movie theatre.
But recently the list of keepers has been dwindling. It is a trend in movies recently. Most of them suck. It's sad but true.
So after I rent the movies that I wanted to see, I generally watch them once and then return them. I simply don't have the time these days (what with work and life and a commute) to watch a movie twice. So why buy DVDs? I have had Netflix before and I am currently subscribing to the other large corporate video rental chain's DVD mail service. But the problem is all the hot DVD'--the new releases and even older popular films--are all available after a short wait.
You can't win.
So I don't buy DVD's anymore, nor do I rent them. Instead, I invested in TiVO.
Well, except in the case of Nacho Libre. I bought that DVD. Me gusta mucho.
And the Soprano's season 6--if you haven't seen that, you really should.
