The nursing field is a field that is in high demand. There are many people that are returning to college for nursing. Even though it’s a demanding field, it’s not easy to get into the program and even to pass it. You have to be really committed in order to get into one and to pass it too. There are people who work hard to get into the program and then would drop out or even flunk out of the program. They find that nursing is no where near what they want to do for a living. Before you get into the program, you didn’t know that you had to clean people and to be under constant pressure by your boss and your doctor. Even though you’re an RN, you will still have to clean your patients from top to bottom. You will have to answer to your boss and your doctor. One of the worst pressures is to get your license suspended for mistakes. They are not that forgiven in the nursing field. If you make a mistake in the writing world, you can delete and go back and fix it but once you make a mistake in the hospital, it might not be reversible sometimes.
One the requirements for going into the program are to have a clean criminal history or at least a clean history for the last ten years with no felony charges. If you have a misdemeanor about 20 years ago that is not related to harm to a human being, they might be able to grant you a license. If you have a recent felony or misdemeanor, you should not study nursing since you might not get a license at all. The board is very strict when it comes to criminal convictions. They don’t just count convictions, they also counts arrests, sealed, expunges records. They really will go into your background just like how they would for police officers. This is because you are a public worker and you deal with people all the time. They want to make sure that you’re safe. If you study and you can’t get a license, you are throwing away valuable time and money.
Another requirement for going into the program is that you have to be clear of communicable diseases. If you have something like TB, you will not be allowed into the program unless you have been treated for it and it’s latent. They will ask you to take a lot of tests before you can get into the program. You will also be re-test each year too for diseases. You will also need current physical test and carry mal practice insurance. You have to pay a lot of fees in nursing school. You will have to pay for lab fees each semesters, physicals, mal practice, uniforms, and books.
