Why My Faith Is So Strong

posted April 4, 2009 - 12:50pm
Why My Faith Is So Strong

I grew up with a strong believing grandmother, and I’ve watched her pray and seen the results afterwards.

While my grandmother was away on a trip my mom and my aunt were in her house one day playing with the Ouija Board and making the dining room table talk by laying their hands on it. They would ask it questions, and it would rise up and hit the floor once for yes and twice for no.

Grandma got home early, when she walked in and saw all of this going on she hollered at the top of her lungs GET OUT OF MY HOUSE DEVIL!!! Then the table flew across the room and hit the wall and broke apart, and this was no flimsy wooden table. The Ouija board hit the ceiling across the room and fell to the floor. I of course did what any brave young man would do, ran out of the house fast as I could.

I did the usual things, I hunted, fished, camped, played baseball, and football, fought, etc. We went to a tent meeting in Stockton, CA. Were I was prophesied over that I was to be an evangelist and that I would set the prisoners free. I was about 13 then.

We moved from Delhi, CA. to Merrill, OR. where my mother got us involved with a catholic church, where the prophetic and the healing was non existent, as a result my faith seemed to disappear. My grandmother, on the other hand, kept me in prayer and reminded me what my calling was.

My parents moved us to Denair, CA. where I went to school and was successful in football. I dropped out of school and married my first wife. I joined the army, had my first son, and shortly after that I learned how to live like there was no tomorrow. I found all those things in the world that could and would get you in trouble. Stationed at Ft. Knox there were plenty.

I quit the army, got a divorce, and went through hell. I crawled into a bottle and stayed there for a couple of years. I met another woman, moved in with her, and had a daughter and another son.

I got involved with drug activity not so much to use but for the money. I started gaining trust and growing this illegal business as fast as I could. My grandmother still reminded me of my calling and continued to pray.

I moved to Klamath Falls, OR. where I began to get arrested for every little thing. The law knew what I was doing, but couldn’t prove it, so they tried to keep me off balance.
A state trooper and his partner picked me up, cuffed me, threw me in the back seat, and proceeded to jail on a warrant. He stopped the car turned and looked me in the eye and said, “The Lord wants to know when are you coming back. He said you walked with the Lord as a young man, but then you walked away. Because of a praying grandmother, He kept his hand upon you, but now He takes His hand away.” For the first time in many years I heard God speak, but I was addicted and could not stop.

After coming down with hepatitis A, B, and C and given 3 years to live, I was busted for drugs twice. The second time I met a pastor that prayed for me, even though I was going to run him out on a bet that I took. Two nights later I had a visit in my cell with the Lord himself. As of Dec. 5 1996, I no longer have hepatitis and the Lord took away all of my addictions and cravings.

I met my present wife in church after I got out. She has four beautiful kids; three boys and a girl. We’ve been married almost nine years. I am now an evangelist and I also minister in the prisons. God restores everything.

Nice to Be Nice @MJ Dakota-Grimess-mythman

That is to say, 'I like that you like!' Really, language-evolution (cunning linguistics, the crazy pun that got me started lol) is simply 'the putting together of lots of baby-talk sounds (over thousands/bazillions of years) to make ~really complex, complicated~ baby-talk.' You know that feeling when you realize the difference between a baby's 'ga-ga' and a baby's 'ga-geheheh'? That's the power of linguistics! ---Give Your Opinion Too!, & Google MIGHT find some extra money for you like they do for My Latest Work!

Thanks for the info Wdzzz

I usually will take the time to look things up, but this morning I had to hit the road to pick up my sons for spring break week. (They live with their father) I also wanted to hear a first hand account of what it meant. Sometimes looking up a word is clinical, I was looking for more of the personal. Anyway, thank you for the information. I got a chuckle out of your pastors description too!! MJ - Sending happy thoughts and Smiles! Thank you Grimes Duo

I didn't realize it meant a traveling preacher. I thought it was another form of Christianity. Wow, a day of learning for me... Taprial taught me that only the female mosquito bites for blood and you taught me what an evangalist is. It's a good day! MJ - Sending happy thoughts and Smiles! Evangelist....Websters

I love to look up words and see what the dictionary says about them. This is from the Websters 1828 and 1915 revised. Evangelist (Page: 515) E*van"gel*ist, n. [F. évangéliste, L. evangelista, fr. Gr. .] A bringer of the glad tidings of Church and his doctrines. Specially: (a) A missionary preacher sent forth to prepare the way for a resident pastor; an itinerant missionary preacher. (b) A writer of one of the four Gospels (With the definite article); as, the four evangelists, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. (c) A traveling preacher whose efforts are chiefly directed to arouse to immediate repentance. Our pastor describes an evangelist as one who "blows in, blows up, blows out"...its a fun pun MJ. Our pastor himself is very evangelistic. He makes fun of himself. He's a blast. For more articles by this author click here

evangelist

Good Morning An evangalist is one though he/she has there own church they travel and preaches in other churches in other cities, states, or countries. In a sence they are traveling preachers, but they stay under the covering of their home church so they are accountable in case they get out of line or get out of line with Gods word.
