Why not tell a little white lie?
posted March 30, 2008 - 1:04amThe fact of the matter is that all lies are not bad, but will most lies lead you to a bad lie.
A US president lied on national Television. A mister lied about his "way of life". A actress lied about not neglecting their kids. Did it all start of with a good heart and end in the bad. Would the end result have not been more appealing if they would of been truthful from the beginning.
The point to my babbling is this, would the world today be better off if as people viewed all lies as a negative thing. While you may tell your girlfriend that she looks nice in that dress that looks way to small on her, is it really helping her by lying to her. Wont she be embarrassed when she shows up to a special event looking like a super model wanna bee when she thought she looked nice.
Do you want your aging parents to pay for your Christmas presents, when they can barely keep food on the table. But they will lie to you and tell you it was nothing.
This is not to pass judgment on lying, but as a reminder to think before we lie to someone to make them or ourselves feel better. Would telling someone the truth in a gentle manner be more helpful in the long run.
