Why Obama is Dead Wrong on the Stimulus Package

President Obama is dead wrong on the U.S. stimulus package. The idea is flawed, its execution is impossible, and it's not the business of the government to be doing it anyway.

Let me first hasten to say here that I am not a Republican or a Bush lover. I can't vote in the U.S. elections anyway because I am a disenfranchised American living in a territory where we are not allowed to vote. I thought Bush was a rotten president with a lot of lousy ideas like the war in Iraq.

Obama is wrong about the stimulus package because very simply, the idea is flawed. Where in the world did people get the idea that we can spend our way out of a recession? That is an idiotic idea. If I lose my job, can I run out and max out all my credit cards, spend all my money, and then spend even more to pay my debt? No? then how can the U.S. government do that?

Its execution is impossible. Put into plain English: the government can't spend that kind of money efficiently! Come on, think about it. How long did you stand in line last time you went to renew your license at the DMV? How was the service? Well, apply that same standard to ANY area of government. Government by nature is slow, inefficient, and wasteful. Just look at the fiascos of Iraq, of Katrina, or ANYTHING the government does. Point to me ONE THING that they do right.

It is not the government's business. Now this is where liberals are all wrong. You see, government produces nothing. Now, that is not bad. Government is not meant to be in the business of producing anything. Governments are set up to one thing: govern. That is, they are meant to protect property, quell crime, guard against invaders and terrorists, and provide a level playing field where we all compete. But produce? No. Government is a necessary parasite to be fed, not a cash cow to be milked.

Why do people think that somehow the government can make money out of thin air? Our bloated and inefficient system is just a mess. It has been twisted into the biggest, most bumbling machine that the world has ever seen, one that takes money from people who earn it and gives it to lazy bums who don't.

Obama is living on wishful thinking. His "hope" machine is in fact a fog machine, obscuring how ridiculous his solutions are. They are not solutions. They are idiocy.

Spending Your Way out of a Recession

I really enjoyed reading this. I agree that spending your way out of recession is quite the opposite to what is needed right now. Thanks doitrightnow.

Wow Les, Thanks for the GREAT comment. I had to read thru the comment 3 times to grasp everything. Thank you for sharing your valuable insight Les.

Folly of youth? The impossible stimulus?

Disenfranchised? Puerto Rico? Well, you have local political problems or you might be a State. Last time the home folks voted it down. So what is the gripe? Self-disenfranchised? 6.First you state it is "wrong." 5.You state it is "impossible." 4.You state it is "inefficient." 3.You state it is "slow, wasteful." 2.You state the economy is none of the "government's" business? 1.You state the government can't make money out of "thin" air. 1-1. Where do you think "money" comes from? Pray, tell us where you think money comes from; you know, "what money IS?" Do you suppose God made money? You know "Created" it? And then passed it out, some here, some there? Are there any rules to the creation of money? Or its use? Whose rules? Like maybe the government or maybe God made the rules? But how does money come into existence -- if not out of thin air? Right. By the hard sweat and labor of muscle or mind, by thought alone money is created? Hmmm? 2-1. What is an economy? Whose "business" is it? If it is NOT our collective financial interactions, goals, goods, wishes, life, deaths, obligations, "productive" relationships and the exploitations of other people, other life, the air, the sea, the land, the commons -- what is it? What is this economy that is not the "business" of the collective thing called government? 3-1. What is fast? How fast can you rewire a large building like a skyscraper with new circuits or new conduits? (How long have you known this? about slowness? 20-30 years? What experience can you write succinctly about that you have had (yourself) to demonstrate this wasteful slowness? (When Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, how long did it take to awaken the sleeping Giant?) What is time to people? A Slow day? A slow month? A slow year? How much time have you? To compare the rate of things that pass? Or to know the difference? 4-1. Inefficient? Living things are said to be about 2% efficient. Out of the food the organism consumes, 98% of the energy is returned to the environment. That is way less efficient than any solar cell. So what is this efficiency you are moaning about? Is it "money" efficiency? Is that like usury? 5-1. Impossible? What is impossibile? Sure, somethings are not possible. They are the violations of the Laws of God, like not being able to get something for nothing, (the second law of thermodynamics) and not being able to pass the speed of light in our universe. So it is interesting to consider what is impossible. Really. 6-1. Wrong? What is the difference between right and wrong you are describing? Is there some illusion to the concept of equal treatment. Did you somehow get promoted to leader? The system you seem to want to describe is history. It did not work. Otherwise, nice posting.
