Why Sarah Palin Doesn't Wear Pants

Why Sarah Palin Doesn't Wear Pants

One of the jokes being made comparing Sarah Palin to Hillary Clinton a couple of weeks ago was a snide comment about how she "doesn't have to wear pants suits," - a jab at the outfits Clinton wore during much of her campaign.

I'm not sure what's wrong with pants suits, exactly, but this is definitely true - Sarah Palin does not wear pants suits. In fact, Sarah Palin virtually never wears pants at all.

Seriously, do a Google image search. I did. She wears pants for outdoor activities and tough work, but that's it. The rest of the time, it's skirts. Long ones, short ones, formal ones, casual ones, skirts with suits and skirts with...sweat shirts?

At this point, you're probably reading this and asking, "So the hell what?" and understandably so. But before I explain myself to you, I'll ask you to observe another detail: Sarah Palin has very long hair, unusual for a female politician.

Sarah Palin is Pentecostal. Most people don't know what this means, and the McCain campaign has presented her as "Christian" while brushing over the details about what denomination.

Now, I won't pretend to be an expert on the Pentecostal church, but I imagine I know more about it than the average person. This is because I once knew a girl who was a member. Her family was claimed by the religion while she and I were both still in high school, and she too stopped wearing pants and began to grow her hair long. Why? Long hair and pants-wearing were forbidden to women in the Pentecostal church.

I was scared for her. By her senior year, she was engaged to a member of her church. He had been chosen for her to marry.

Sarah Palin & pants

I'm pretty sure I saw her wearing pants during one of the Katie Couric interview segments.

Thank you for making me look it up.....

I follow politics some, though dont understand everything, but had not considered the church either candidate attends. Your article has some very good and informative points to it, though they differed from my own experiences. Since I have always been a seeker of truth, your article sent me looking to see what church Palin actually attends and what the churches belief system is. Palins previous church is Assembly of God in Wasilla. I looked at their web page. http://wasillaag.org/index.php?nid=3724&s=gl It is Assembly of God which does not have the doctrine of "no pants and dont cut your hair" for women. You can read thier doctrinal statements in the link that says "what we believe". Also if you look at the gallery of pictures you will see that there are a lot of women and girls dressed in jeans and pants. I dont think they taught Palin to not wear pants. I could be wrong but it doesnt seem so. I have visited a couple of churches in times past that did have the "no pants, dont cut hair" doctrine for women and I can tell you that no woman or girl is ever in pants, and especially in church. The young girls are never allowed to wear them and women wont. By the way, the churches that have the "no pants, dont cut your hair" rules are also the churches that usually do not permit women to wear earrings. Sarah Palin has earrings on in her pictures and if she were attending that type of church .....she would be considered in sin. Some go so far as to not allow make up either. And just to make sure that any person that is not a Christian, or doesnt know our God, doesnt get the wrong impression...those rules are NOT the way to salvation. Her current church is a non denominational church called Juneau Christian Center and the website is: http://www.jccalaska.com/cgi-bin/gx.cgi/AppLogic+FTContentServer?pagename=FaithHighway/10000/3000/582JU/home You can find thier beliefs by going to the information page, then going to the link that says "about us". I also have visted and been in many non denominational fellowship churches and the ones I have been in dont have the "no pants, no cut hair" rule. Though Palin may have this belief for herself, from only God knows where, it is not a part of her known church history. It could also be her own personal taste and what she is comfortable with. Now..I need to find articles about all the other candidates religious backgrounds, and go look up their churches so I can find out where they are coming from spiritually, and then comment on them. Again, thank you for the article and for spurring me on to finding more information about our candidates before I cast my vote this time.

I did know this, actually

And you're right, I should have noted it in my article. It's just that I was raised Lutheran myself and as such, I forget that non-Christians aren't necessarily aware of how much variance there can be from church to church, even within denominations. The fact remains, Sarah and her daughter appear to be doing the long hair, no pants thing, which tells me that her church has significant influence on her. Which is scary, given the fact that her pastor is a known nutcase zealot.

Not all Pentecostals object to pants for women.......

In the Christian church there are different denominations, such as Baptists, Methodists, Pentecostals,Protestants, etc.... Within each church denomination there are branches of each denomination, so to speak..... Not all Pentecostals have the doctrines you speak of.... Dictionary definition: Doctrine: A principle or body of principles presented for acceptance or belief, as by a religious, political, scientific, or philosophic group; dogma. A rule or principle of law, especially when established by precedent. A statement of official government policy, especially in foreign affairs and military strategy. Archaic. Something taught; a teaching. [Middle English, from Old French, from Latin doctrīna, from doctor, teacher. See doctor.] Britannica Concise Encyclopedia: Pentecostalism: Protestant religious movement that originated in the U.S. in the 19th – 20th century. It is characterized by a belief that all Christians should seek a postconversion religious experience called baptism with the Holy Spirit. There are a few churches within the Pentecostal movement that do have a doctrine of women not wearing pants, along with other doctrinal issues such as women not wearing ear rings or cutting their hair, but those numbers are not the majority. I just wanted to clear up the difference, and like you I am no expert, but yet I do believe I may know more than the average person also - because I am a pentecostal christian and have been for over 20 years. Thank you for the article and the opportunity to make the distinction.

Sarah Palin

Hi, this is interesting. I was not aware of this information. Thanks, great read.

Worldwide Pants

It does read quite a bit differently if you replaced the word 'pants' with 'panties'..I liked it better that way..no offense, lv..lol Click here to find out how you can get paid to post items like this. It's free and easy to join.

No panties for Pentecostals

That is funny.

Oh dear - conflict of terminology

You should be aware that 'pants' has an entirely different meaning East of the pond. What this item refers to is, in UK terminology, trousers or even jeans. What we call 'pants' is either a derogatory term meaning utter and complete rubbish, or alternatively 'knickers', 'briefs' - i.e. underwear. This is why I found the entire article completely hysterically funny. Particularly the idea of Pentecostal ladies in big baggy dresses with NOTHING underneath. ROFLMAO

I'm not wearing pants. Does

I'm not wearing pants. Does that make me a Pentecostal? *If you're interested in reading my articles, Click Here.
