Winter Wedding Theme Idea: Wedded Winter Wonderland

With autumn here and winter approaching, some brides to be may be thinking about having a winter wedding. Although many brides pick May or June for their wedding day, there are lots of reasons to choose a winter wedding instead. In the peak summer season, venues are harder to book and may be more expensive. Hotels and honeymoon suites are more likely to be open in the winter, and you might find you get more attention from florists and others involved in your special day since their schedules are less tight. If you want a wedding that is unique and memorable, picking an off season is the way to go.

Below is one theme idea for a winter wedding, which I call "Wedded Winter Wonderland." Other theme ideas include “Evergreen, Everlasting” (think pine trees), “Home & Hearth” (homey Christmas feel), or “New Years Jubilation.” Feel free to comment and share your own!

Theme Idea, Winter Wonderland: Icicles, snowflakes, and silver bells can make for an enchanting wedding theme, even if it isn't snowing outside. For this theme, everything fits with the ice and snow theme, and colors are in shades of pearl, white, silver, or ice blue.

Decorations: White or blue icicle style lights can be strung up to give the place a magical feel. Mock icicles or even an ice sculpture can be stunning. As for flowers, consider blossoms like white orchids or amaryllis. White roses also look beautiful.

Invitations & Favors: You can opt for winter-themed wedding invitations, like white snowflake invitations. For favors, the possibilities are endless. How about silver wedding bells? You could also be creative, and use anything icicle themed. Crystal picture frames would work nicely, too.

Dresses:  A snowy white dress would be perfect for the bride, and a white and/or powder blue tuxedo for the groom. The bridesmaids could really wear any color, but a soft ice blue or anything in a pearl shimmer would compliment the theme. Swarovski Crystals are an elegant touch.

Food and Drink: Serve food on crystal dishes, and drinks in crystal glasses. Silver is also beautiful, and would do just as nicely.

Music: You can compliment the mystical feel by playing soft, enchanting music, with lots of tinkling bells and chimes. If you like classical music, there are special compilations for just this purpose, like the Perfect Winter Wedding CD. Of course, you can always make your own mix, or have a DJ prepare one for you!
