women's style - disguising a bad haircut
posted September 7, 2006 - 2:44pmYou just got back from the hairstylist and you realize this is one of the worst haircuts that you've ever had. As you stand there looking in the mirror with tears streaming down your face and tell yourself , "it'll grow back ", although this is true, it's of little consolation to the way you're feeling at the moment. So what do you do in the meantime?
The most important thing to do immediately is to call the hairstylist and voice your complaint. If they won't listen to you ask to speak to their supervisor. Explain to them that you're seeing the hair cut in a different surrounding without all the bright lights and it's just not how you expected it to look. Ask if there's a possibility you can come in to get your hair corrected free of charge. If not, get out telephone directory and locate some other stylists in your area. Call them and explain what happened and ask if they can correct a bad haircut. Hopefully you can find someone who can make your hair look more like what you had in mind or at least presentable.
You can always hide a cutting error behind a stylish hair decoration. There are many clips, headbands, barettes, and other hair jewelry that can either cover or disguise the slip up. Using either real or silk flowers in your hair can add a touch of the exotic to your outfit.
Hats and scarves are always a godsend to those with a less than stylish haircut. Besides being a cover-up to that imperfect haircut, they are another means of adding charm, sophistication, and variety to your favorite outfits.
mousse and styling gel can also be the best friend of someone with a bad haircut. These styling tools allow you to add oomph and style control to your hair. Simply apply a dab or two to your hair and work it in. Restyle your hair with your fingers to fluff it and give it a tousled look.
Thank goodness for wigs and hair extensions. although wigs can completely cover-up your own hair you might consider wearing one if your bad haircut cannot be helped by using these other methods. Many of them are light weight and more realistic looking than they were years ago. So this may be a solution until your hair gets long enough to recut it properly. Hair extensions are added to the tips of your own hair. They add length and thickness to your hair cut. Be sure to purchase human hair extensions as these can be styled. Artificial ones cannot.
Although it may take time for your hair to reach a certain length so it can be recut, you might discover some new and flattering ways to style and wear your hair in the meantime.
