I wonder.....

I wonder.....

At any given time of the day there are hundreds of Xomba guests online. On the same note, there is usually not more than 30 Xomba members online. This is a great place to let it all out. Well not all. But Xomba provides a great commmunity of people who I have found to be better than other sites I have been on. I have received no negativity here, which I cannot say for the other sites. I think Xomba does a great job.

When we write our articles we do it for two reasons. Because we have something to say mostly and also having something to say can make a little cash for you if you are lucky.

But I have to wonder what types of ads people click on the most. What types of subjects make people click on those ads. I think that is the key to making money writing. You also have to know how to word things so you may get a great ad on your article. I find myself clicking on some of the ads myself. Sometimes, it just catches your eye. But I think, who clicks on the ads more? The members or the guests?

I guess it doesn't matter as long as you enjoy what you are doing, which I do or I wouldn't be here. But it is nice to check your stats and see that an article you wrote got a "bite" and that makes you think. What did I do there that I didn't do in that last article which got no clicks on ads.

But I say write a lot and write well. That is what I have been told by many. I think that must be the common thread. Writing a lot and writing well will only make you better and you feel you are accomplishing something at the same time.

I've found that...

...you do seem to have to use 'buzz words' when you're writing - like mentioned above 'online free' helps among others (maybe 'so-and-so topless' and the like). There doesn't seem to be much demand for science although politics can do quite well. For some reason, the articles with the most clicks for me, seem to be from my articles about cat and dog medicine... o_0 ...not sure why. Subscribe to XHellcatX's Xombytes

Thank you for your insight

I take in anything people can tell me. I do look at the popular tags here. But thank you for help! JOIN XOMBA HERE

Clicking other writers ads....

When I first started here on Xomba I asked that exact question. Could I click on an ad on someone elses article without breaking any rules. The answer was "yes..you can click on another persons ad if it is something that intrests you..just dont abuse that by clicking repeatedly as Google tracks". I kept the email giving permission to click on others ads in a reasonable manner.

I will correct your conclusion; not to say it's not right, just that there's a truer target. You say that the key to success here is 'writing a lot and writing well.' As much as I hate to admit it, one DOES feed the other; if you write a lot, you will be trained to see more-and-more of what works and less-and-less of what does not. True, we don't want you posting scammy stuff that gets on people's nerves and that slides our professional dialogs off of the front-page; but you'll find out that the professional dialogs have a way of surviving after the initial slide-off. As for 'what to write about,' I can only direct you to a couple of lists of topics people are searchint ~in~ (Yahoo! Buzz & another one like it) and tell you the four words Taprial told us are the most searched-for of all: WATCH LIVE ONLINE FREE. ---Uncle MythMan (http://www.geocities.com/jmythh2k5) & the Xombies Echo the Universe & GET MONEY for Discussing the Wonderful World Above & the Beauty Around Us!

Adsense

I guess a click here and there will not harm but you are not allowed to routinely click other users ads in order for them to profit. From googles point of view how would they know the difference between genuine interest and clickfraud. They are able to track the IP the clicks are coming from and if you routinely click otehr users ads that may look like clickfraud to them. I would be careful!

@Martin123--I Thought That Was Just for 'Ads You Get Credit For'

I almost-dutifully click on other members' ads! ('almost' because I really only click on what I'm interested in seeing). But we're not even allowed to do that? Then I would distribute ALL the Ad$ense-revenue to the members, only taking a member's portion (or maybe that-plus-an extra percentage--like a ~tithe~--for the 'if you build it, they will come'-stress of creating this super-dee-duper layout!). It's not MY Ad$ense-code on Your articles! ---Uncle MythMan (http://www.geocities.com/jmythh2k5) & the Xombies Echo the Universe & GET MONEY for Discussing the Wonderful World Above & the Beauty Around Us!

No problem :-)

In the adsense TOS this is clearly stated and also in xomba guidelines. This is to avoid clickfraud. Say you wanted to help increase another users earnings by constantly clicking his/hers ads, this is classified as clickfraud and would get your own and/or the other user banned from adsense, you are then also cheating the advertisers which would be paying for invalid clicks

Thanks

I didn't know you couldn't click on ads at all. I knew you couldn't click on ads for your own but I didn't know you couldn't at all. Does it say that someone, maybe on adsense? JOIN XOMBA HERE

don't click ads

if you have an adsense account you are not allowed to click ads. If you do this you could get both yourself and others in trouble. Only guests click ads, users with adsense accounts are not allowed to do so. If you're curious about any of the ads just look at the url and type it in manually in your browser..
