The World's Largest Wind Farm at Horse Hollow

The world's largest wind farm is at Horse Hollow in Texas. It spans across two counties, Taylor and Nolan in West Texas. West Texas is an ideal location for wind farms. The roughly from San Angelo all the way up to the Canadian border is known as the wind corridor. It has been touted recently by oil and wind energy investor T. Boone Pickens as the solution for our domestic energy needs.
The Horse Hollow wind farm continues to grow. Generation capacity now stands at 765 Megawatts and more turbines are being added monthly.
The Horse Hollow wind farm uses Siemens and GE wind turbines and is spread over nearly 50,000 acres. Residents of the area who at first opposed wind energy now embrace the technology and most are pleased with the economic impact and fame it has brought to their area.
While wind farms may never provide 100% of our energy needs the are clean energy that, once the capital investment is paid off, continue to make money for investors year after year.
We can expect to see more wind farms across Texas in the coming years and for wind energy to replace oil as a major source of revenue. Mr. Pickens still has plans to develop what will be the worlds largest wind farm near Pampa, in the Texas Pandhandle.
