Wow! Mexico is Cracking Down on Illegal Immigrants...

Mexico is cracking down on illegal immigrants...coming in from Central America, to their own country. I think you were expecting to read this differently. So was I. Are you disapointed? I was, but what else is new? Of course this sentence wasn't going to end as Mexico cracking down on illegal immigrants sneaking over into the U.S. So why are they cracking down on illegals from Central America? It appears that too many of them are taking over Mexican jobs.
Ironically (or maybe not), last year Mexico was even reported to have distributed maps to its citizens that revealed the least dangerous illegal routes to the United States. Surprised? I'm not. You probably weren't either.
So what's going on, so far, to curb the illegal immigration into the U.S.? It appears that the United States must be able to show stronger, more long-term enforcement of the borders, and must more severely punish the crime of illegal hiring of these migrants. Until that happens, congress defends that new laws and crack-downs will do little to change the problem.
The Bush administration has made some high-profile raids on businesses involved in illegal hire. They sent 6,000 national Guard troops to the border, doubled the number of patrol agents in Arizona, and added more helicopters, fencing, ground sensors, and detention centers. They've also been more serious about procedures for returning illegals home. As a result, many Mexicans have gotten the message, and there has been a noticeable drop in arrests - by more than 25%.
Unfortunately, last week, the federal government had to postpone enforcements of the 2005 Real ID Act by as much as 20 months. (Ouch!). This act would require states to adopt secure driver's licenses for anyone in their state, in order to spot illegal aliens and terrorists. Another target of this act is to reduce identity fraud. Congress defends, again, that they can't really make much difference with this act until previous laws have been more clearly and strongly enforced.

We shouldn't have to send

We shouldn't have to send them aid. Mexico has plenty of resources. The problem is their corrupt government. I wrote an article about this a while back: Illegal Aliens: A Aimple Solution The example I used in my article was Mexico. Their membership in the WTO, NAFTA, their petroleum industry, and their tourism industry provide them with plenty of money every year. But this money isn't making it's way to the people and the citizens seem to refuse to do anything about it. Their answer is to run away and we have politicians in our country willing to sacrifice our well-being to accomodate them. Aren't you glad our government is protecting OUR interests?

Perspective on Illegal Immigrants: A Teacher's Standpoint

I get upset that they have access to free education over here, even though they don't pay for it at all. They are making it harder and harder, not only for teachers to get the salaries we deserve, but also for our own children to get the educations they deserve. Let's not even get into the subject of healthcare on this one. Or maybe we should, because it might bring up more visits to both this post and my insurance post. Ha! Ha! Another thing I really hate about illegal immigrants being over here is having to call parents. I always have to get a translator. Even when a translator talks to them, the communication is not direct - so their child still has problems in my class academically and behaviorally. I know it's hard to live in Mexico, but they're weighing us down more than if we sent them aid. It's ridiculous.

Yes, Mexico has a problem

Yes, Mexico has a problem with illegal immigrants entering their own country. So much so that they even put military troops on their southern border to try to stop them. And what happens when they find these illegal immigrants? They are immediately deported. The hypocrisy is hilarious. We need a wall or a legitimate security fence. You're right about employers too. If these illegal immigrants can't get a job, they won't come here. We need to shut down businesses that employ them, and seriously fine people who hire them for private work. And in addition to that, we need to stop giving them free government services, including education, welfare, and health care. These services attract some of them more than the jobs do. Don't expect politicians to do anything about it right now...after all, there's a presidential election coming up. They wouldn't want to do something that may hurt their party. Besides, they need this imaginary "hispanic vote" to boost them into the White House. What these idiots don't realize is that most of the LEGAL immigrants don't like the fact that so many illegal ones aren't being dealt with. And they are the ones voting...at least they are the only ones that SHOULD be voting.
