WVU Will Face Okalahoma Sooners in BCS Fiesta Bowl
posted December 2, 2007 - 8:39pmAfter finishing 9th in the final BCS standings, the West Virginia University WVU Mountaineers will be going to the 37th Annual Tostitos Fiesta Bowl to face the Oklahoma Sooners. The game will be played Wednesday, January 2nd at 7:30pm at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale AZ. The WVU Mountaineers, ranked 2nd in the BCS standings heading into the game with Pitt, appeared to be bound for the National Championship Game, before losing 13-9 to the Panthers.
This will be WVU's second BCS appearance. The team's first BCS game was the 2005 Sugar Bowl in Atlanta, against Georgia.
The Mountaineers won that game 38-35. WVU last played in the Fiesta Bowl in 1989, losing to Lou Holtz's Notre Dame University.
