I was moved to comment because I wanted to see if you had heard about the new plans from TracFone Wireless. They're called Straight Talk and are available online and at Wal-Mart, surprisingly enough.
The one plan costs $30 and gives users 1,000 minutes of talk time and 1,000 text messages. It's pretty amazing actually when you look at what you get for the monthly fee. Sure, you still have to buy a phone with the whole deal, but they are affordable, if not the nicest phones in the world.
If you want a smartphone, look elsewhere. If you want an "app for that," look elsewhere. But if you want to save money, that's what Straight Talk will help you do.
