Day 2 of X Games 14 started off with the BMX Big Air Finals. There were some big tricks and a LOT of crashes, although none serious. Although crashes are no laughing matter, a little comedy did come out of Anthony Napolitan, who lost his shoe in a crash. This kid could be the future of BMX Big Air though, at only 18 attempting a triple tail whip and nearly landing it.

BMX Big Air consists of four jumps and the best jump counts. Almost all of the riders fell on their first jump, and tricks generally got better as rounds progressed. First place was traded between Dave Mirra and Chad Kagy litterally six times with Chad Kagy finally taking the gold by flip-whipping the 70 ft gap and following up with a flatspin flair-whip flying almost 20 feet high, netting him 96.00 points.

Dave Mirra, who was orginally only here for the Rally Car Racing, ended up doing the BMX Big Air more or less for the hell of it. Taking only four practice runs beforehand, he threw out two helicopter flips one of which gained him the silver medal by finishing off with a flair tailwhip on the quarter pipe, pulling 94.66 points

Kevin Robinson, pulled his bronze in early in the 2nd run, gaining him 91.00 points.
