X is not Sex 1

X is not sex. A pity. At school, I did a lot of maths. My most frequent sentence was, "Let x be the unknown". So "X the unknown" became very known. What remained unknown was sex. So it should've been: "Let sex be the unknown." I don't know what equations that would've solved but it would've done me a lot of good. In fact, you could've expressed my school life in a formula, "more x, less sex".

You think I would've learnt my lesson. Oh no, I went on to uni. And what did I study? Maths, of course. Maths, why maths? My mother pushed me. At the time, I just thought she wanted me to be a brilliant theorist, not get my hands dirty, a reaction to being brought up in a slum. Now, however, I know the truth. Though my mother was totally unschooled, she intuitively understood, "more x, less sex". In fact, she probably thought uni maths meant, "All x, no sex".

Well, she was wrong. Uni did her wrong. We switched to Greek. It became, "Let alpha be the unknown" or "Let theta..." or "Let omega...". Anything but x. Well, no x... you can imagine the rest. And I just about got my degree.
