Xomba Blog | Frankie Says Relax

Hi Everyone,

Sometimes I feel like a broken record when I say that we have new articles on the front page, but today you really should check the new Xombytes out.

Man's Greatest Inventions

You Know You’re Pushing 40 When…

Best & Worst Moments Of The Beijing Olympics

Our contest, Xomba Is Green With Envy, is coming to a close Sunday night. Be sure to get your last minute entries in. Looks like we have quite a bit of reading to do next week.
Check out contests section for more details.

Jeremy informs me he is quite disappointed in the recent personal attacks and flames going in the comment section.

While we welcome you guys to critique and ridicule each others opinions we will not allow personal attacks. If you want to beat each other up then take it to email. It has gotten to the point that reading anything political or religious gives me a migraine. We encourage you to argue about MCcain Vs. Obama, but don't take it to a personal level.

Unfortunately, I am losing faith that we all can remain civil.

To learn that some of you feel we are being one-sided is absolutely preposterous and hurtful.

You need to realize that Jeremy and I spend most of our time chasing after the annoying Watch (popular TV show here) blurbs to have to babysit a few members.

We all get hot and angry over comments, but heed this last warning. Get it under control or do we need to be so childish to dish out 10 day suspensions?

An adult time out, if you will.

I surely, hope not.

To those of you who have been flagging more and more we whole-heartedly thank you!!!

Please keep it up.

Monday is a holiday here in the states, so new articles will be posted Tuesday morning.

We have banners coming. We're undergoing final edits on them now. You'll soon be able to post banners with your referral code all over the internet. I'm sure webmasters everywhere will be rejoicing!

The truth is out there

Either it was a real person or a reasonable facsimile thereof. He/she was leaving comments and responding to mine. It was making comments and responding to the Xomba admins, and they were responding to him/her/it. Either this person existed, or a number of the early Xomba members (and its founders) are/were delusional. Of course, you don't know if *I* an really a "person" either. I could just be an aardvark who has learned how to type despite a lack of opposable thumbs.

Did that person really exist?

You have to ask yourself; did that person really exist? Perhaps you should seek professional help.

Comments

Well, that might create troubles of its own. If one person removes their comments and the other people in the conversation don't, if might look pretty odd. There are some old posts in which I was having a back-and-forth conversation with someone, and I guess that person left Xomba and their comments were removed. So now there are just a bunch of comments by me, making it look like I've having a conversation by myself. Except it's even weirder than that, because the other person's comments (and key parts of the discussion) are missing. Xombies can always go back and change their comments... even though you can't totally remove them, you can take out the text and write something like 'comment removed by author,' or tone down the heat in the comment.

Move On

Yeah. That is the way to do it. Just stop and don't go back to that article.

Delete Comment Button?

Maybe the authors themselves could help out by being able to delete any comments on their own posts. I don't know the legistics of that, but it is maybe an idea for you to work with. It would give the authors power to control their own PR. I know a couple of comments on my posts I would like to get rid of. I know I've read other peoples great articles and then looked down at the posts and just got weird feelings about other peoples post, totally killed the warm fuzzies from their article? Just a thought to kick around.

moving on

should be the motto. but its not easy to do so when the commentor keepd coming back to your byte to leave nasty comments! My writings here My profile here

Keep it cool and move on

Wow, this is getting pretty interesting. Xomba has people from many different countries, with different religious and political views. This is an amazing thing to have and I think we can all use this to our advantage. We can all learn something from each other; I know have learned many things from xomba members. Not only that, but I have also opened up my mind even more and this helps me when I get engaged in any kind of debate. Maybe I have also learned to do this because I also do it in school and my grade depends on me keeping it cool. Either way, I realized that more comes out of being cool, then when debates get out of hand. If I write a piece on religion and I want people to freely ask me questions or post their comments, I have to keep an open mind so that the discussions will get far and everyone would hopefully learn something. However, if I don't keep my cool, my post would go to waste and nothing would come out of it, except a few angry people, including myself. So in conclusion, I think we should all agree to disagree with each other. We are not the same and we all have our own opinions. You might not like everyone’s opinion, but that doesn't mean you have to work really hard and resort to name calling so that you can change their minds. You can just accept the fact that we don't agree and move on. Make money on xomba, sign up here
