Xomba Blog: Workshop Transcipts Now Available

And here is the workshop transcripts from Wednesday:

Hey Everyone,

First, we want to let you know we plan to have two short Q&A workshops tomorrow at 11am EST and Thursday at 4pm EST. The workshop will be held just like last week, inside a Xombyte.

We'll be taking your questions and as always there will be a transcript available.

We're working on a new contest. We'll have one more contest before the new year. We hope to roll something out early next week. I'm sure it will be some kind of writing contest.

We've seen some awesome deals on PCs early this holiday season. If you're looking to buy a big ticket item for the holidays make sure you do some research so you get the best deal. We're seeing great prices on laptops and desktops.

Tigerdirect.com is being very competitive with it's wholesale price.

Make sure you are writing about these deals. Consumers are starting to search for ideas for Christmas and shopping guides.

Personally, I think sales will be best about a week or so before Christmas instead of black Friday.

Many companies around the world are preparing major layoffs like the ones Citigroup announced yesterday. You can bet that people will be searching online for who is laying off and how to find a job. I have friends already asking me how to write a resume and to share tips about finding a job.

If you're lucky enough to have some extra cash this year you should consider giving to organizations such as www.toysfortots.org.

Thanks

Thanks for being at the workshop and asking questions. We'll be happy to ask questions Thursday November 20th at 4pm EST. One of our headlines is going to be featured on the Dr. Phil show. I don't have an air date yet, but Xomba will get credit. Take care. Xomba Team

That's why I only give locally

I have made it a policy to only give to local charities because I can walk into the place and check it out first-hand. I don't mind giving a few bucks to the Salvation Army santas or to other people soliciting in front of stores, but I haven't done anything national since I gave regularly to the Combined Federal Campaign while I was in the Navy. Otherwise, I am happy to donate food to the food banks or supplies to local animal rescue groups. JOIN XOMBA IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO ADD!

Charities are fine, but....

Its a great thing to do - donate to a charity. But many a times its the medium that becomes a problem. There are numerous occasions when loads of money is collected in the name of charity, but it never reaches the needy. There is a gap between the collector and the needy. Bridging this gap is tricky as well as mandatory if the intended help is to reach the needy. I hope that happens.

Charities

A lot of people are hurting because of the economy. I've given to Toys for Tots and various other groups in the past, but this year I'm going to gear more of my contributions toward food banks, my local homeless shelter, etc... there are more and more people in my area who are going to the food bank to get necessities. The sad thing is, many of them used to donate food and money to the pantry; now they're having to use its services.

Charities are especially needed this year

With the massive layoffs coming on the heels of a sucky economy, more people than ever are going to need a little help this holiday season. I am not the most affluent person, but I plan on donating part of my AdSense check to local charity this month and I'm planning on making it a regular contribution from here on out. Toys for tots!

Great organization! Give $$ or drop off toys in your area!
