Xomba Blog | Number 1

Xomba Blog | Number 1

We've decided to start keeping a regular blog about what we're doing behind the scenes here at Xomba. Every day or two we're going to post an informal entry that will hopefully provide some insight and let you see into our minds.

Not as serious as our monthly newsletter, obviously.

Today, we're going to change our About Us section by adding pictures of the staff (all two of us) and the Xomba origin story. Not to be confused with the origin story of Iron Man.

I received a note today from a user (keeping it private unless they want to reveal themselves) who just bought a new car with the help of the money they made from Xomba. How awesome is that? I don't know if everyone will be able to make that kind of money, but it makes me feel good knowing some of you are making serious money.

If you are still trying to figure out how to make money on here then I suggest you read the Make Money Guide.

In off-beat news, Lucasfilm revealed the new Star Wars CGI Clone Wars movie trailer last night. We've been scouring all over the net to find it without any success. If you have found it will please post a Xomblurb to it and drop a comment directing us to the Xomblurb. Good luck.

We have a new account at Twitter.com.

Happy Friday,
Nick

So Long Ago

Blog number One???!???!!?? Wow, Jeremy found this today.  Seems forever ago.

Xombawesome

This is the third writing site I have tried, haven't made much more than the others yet...but I love the community on this one. None of the others compare at all...the lively debates are the best, everybody is honest - they tell it like it is (from their point of view). I guess you could say the lack of pretention is a definite plus, along with the wide diversity of articles and knowledgable writers. I have pretty much put all my focus on writing here now. Keep up the great work guys! Xomba gets my vote. Get Paid $$$ to Write! Join Xomba! www.xomba.com/referral/7778f814 Tarot Truly Read. http://www.keen.com/TrueTarotbyTracy

(at least half the amount). Anything's possible here. Thanks Nick, for all the enthusiasm and for writing about this in your blog. I really hadn't expected it!

Some

Some of the originals are still here but in different forms. I remember the Good 'Ole Days when Antonia was posting about a bazillion poems a day, The greenness of the site, no purple monster/alien, before Les was born, The Orbs series, nasty fights on religion, Cara's posts on random halfway amusing stuff, and nobody making much money. Then somebody posted something I think about iron or recycling or something like that a got a bagillion hits and everything changed. For awhile it was a lot of Perez Hilton/TMZ stuff about Brit-Brit and the clan (mostly parodies). The site has changed a lot since then and for the better in my opinion. The best thing was when Nick added the 'blurbs. The quality of the the posts are much better now then in the past and the huge amount of info on this site is amazing. I remember one xombapharian who just posted random one or two sentence bytes that made no-sense. AH, the good 'ole days. Just call Nick "Virginia Slim" 'cause he's come a long way baby. Will we ever see pics of the reclusive Brett? I think he looks like this [img_assist|nid=148014|title=Brett|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=80|height=100] Shirt says "Don't call me a Cowgirl until you've seen me ride"

Nick,

Wow, that's awesome. I don't mean everything you went through, but how Xomba has flourished with such a risk to start. Either way, I am glad you took the risk :) I find this all amazing! You know what I think, I think in a few more years Xomba will become the next google. It already has information just about everything! BTW, how did you come up with such a unique name? Also, let me just get something straight- Xomba Administrator= Nick Xomba Moderator= Baldwin/Jeremy So you both have two usernames? Believe it or not, I had thought you were all different people. I had thought the usernames I mentioned are four different people. lol.

05-15????

Have you written your xombyte next week?:-)

Try this

http://www.xomba.com/the_clone_wars_sneak_peek Is this the one that everyone is discussing?

LOL

Yeah, I went broke in 6 months. Luckily, my girlfriend had finished college and got a nice job. She help support us while I worked part-time. It was hard work, but that makes it more worth it in the end. No one gave me 2 million dollars. All redesign efforts are funded by Xomba revenue. There are pros and cons to venture capital. We just didn't think we could get any at the time.

Yes

Technically, I am the first employee of Xomba. Jeremy is the second. Jeremy tested Xomba before it was public. Yes, before you Idle. Jeremy and I have been close friends for the past 4-5 years now. He knew about Xomba before it was Xomba. He was making money on Xomba before he worked here. I think he's made around $1,400 so far, but don't quote me on that.

heh

The alligator picture was taken in Tampa at their Aquarium. It was a playground. I like posting silly pictures and I'm not sure this current one is silly enough.
