Xomba Blog | Number 1
Xomba Blog | Number 1
We've decided to start keeping a regular blog about what we're doing behind the scenes here at Xomba. Every day or two we're going to post an informal entry that will hopefully provide some insight and let you see into our minds.
Not as serious as our monthly newsletter, obviously.
Today, we're going to change our About Us section by adding pictures of the staff (all two of us) and the Xomba origin story. Not to be confused with the origin story of Iron Man.
I received a note today from a user (keeping it private unless they want to reveal themselves) who just bought a new car with the help of the money they made from Xomba. How awesome is that? I don't know if everyone will be able to make that kind of money, but it makes me feel good knowing some of you are making serious money.
If you are still trying to figure out how to make money on here then I suggest you read the Make Money Guide.
In off-beat news, Lucasfilm revealed the new Star Wars CGI Clone Wars movie trailer last night. We've been scouring all over the net to find it without any success. If you have found it will please post a Xomblurb to it and drop a comment directing us to the Xomblurb. Good luck.
We have a new account at Twitter.com.
Happy Friday,
Nick

I'll add a little insight on the (finally) upcoming new design for Xomba.
I want to thank Xomba and all the people behind the scene who had made this possible. It is really a good place to be. Whether you earn or not. And in fact, I am also earning. So I guess, the money will eventually come with time, you just have to hang on.
By the way, Nick - I just came accross this leaked video for clone wars and posted a blurb. But I guess this is an old one.

Glad to hear it.
Yeah, that trailer is supposedly leaked, but poor quality.
Thanks though. The search continues.
The link to the leaked trailer is here:

I am not sure if its the right one, but seemed to be the one you were talking about!
check it out.
This is the leaked one, but not the official trailer. the official trailer was debuted yesterday on TV.
No one seems to have it yet.
Thanks.
Nick, You do know how to play "dog and the bone".
Yeah...! Lol:) We will all go scrambling around the net to find this link, By jove!, By Toutatis, WE SHALL FIND IT! Or Let the sky fall on our heads!
This link is the same old leaked one. the date of that post is April 13th.
This is awesome, thanks for the updates. It's nice to know what you guys are up to.
I am also glad that you will finally post the Xomba story. Can't wait for it.
One question though: Where in the world is the "About Us" page?
I can't seem to find it.
We're still working on it.
But it is on the footer below at the bottom of the page and www.xomba.com/about_us
I didnt know Xomba was so young. Good for you Nick that you stuck it out and clung to your belief! Exactly how much is your paycheck now (tongue firmly in cheek:-)?

I still consider us in Beta and that we really haven't fully launched yet.
I'm happy with what I make.
It is really good to know the background and history of Xomba.
Your dedicated efforts is now paying off Nick.
Have a look at this one for the video bits of clone wars

I am not giving up on the link...:) :)
Truly enjoyed reading about how Xomba started. And what a vision. If this is just beta, can't wait to see how great the real launch will be. Can't say how glad I am that you quit your job and started Xomba and gave us all an opportunity to make money. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
This is awesome! I love knowing things about the sites I am involved with. You guys are all down to earth with this site and with us the users, which is amazing.
Your story about how you started Xomba is great, but wasn't it a huge risk to take when you quit your day job? I mean that's just wow!
By the way, if you need another employee, I am free :)
Sam
What happened to the alligator photo?
I wonder how many of the original Xombies from August '06 are still around (besides me, of course)? Maybe some read and lurk but don't post. I know I saw a new post from one of the first Xombies a few weeks ago, then she disappeared...
"..we're going to post an informal entry that will hopefully provide some insight and let you see into our minds."
Hmmm, that could be scary...
So Jeremy/Baldwin is only the second employee? All the other people were volunteers/ indentured servants? Did Jeremy/Baldwin post back at the beginning? If he was, he must have been using a different screen name (and I hope it wasn't "Ken Light"!)
Since we're hearing from Nick but the gator is nowhere to be seen, I'm guessing Nick won that encounter.
In fact, if you blow up the photo of Nick on this page, you might notice a reptilian look to his belt... (just kidding, I can't see a belt in that photo)
Wow! This must be the most incredible story I've ever read. And feel glad to know that I am a part of this story and that we all helped this site grow to what it is!
Great going. Keep up the spirit and enthusiasm.
Finally, we get to meet Nick. And the staff!
All the best!
This sort of proves the Jdubhub theory, "Do good to others and good things will come to you! Be Positive and Positive things happen to you!"
Thank you for sharing the Xomba story. Its good to know that we can contact the owners anytime there's a need to. I can feel the sincerity of Nick and Jeremy and now, the more that I would love to stay here. My earnings per click here in Xomba is higher than the other communities I am with and I have started earning from my posts even if most of them are social bookmarks only. I'm active in other communities but based on all the testimonials I read here, I guess I better make those posts soon. I plan to write more articles but my day job is demanding at times but I'm positive that someday I can make a full time job online. Thanks for all the support and more power to Xomba!

The alligator picture was taken in Tampa at their Aquarium. It was a playground.
I like posting silly pictures and I'm not sure this current one is silly enough.
Technically, I am the first employee of Xomba. Jeremy is the second.
Jeremy tested Xomba before it was public. Yes, before you Idle.
Jeremy and I have been close friends for the past 4-5 years now. He knew about Xomba before it was Xomba.
He was making money on Xomba before he worked here.
I think he's made around $1,400 so far, but don't quote me on that.
Yeah, I went broke in 6 months. Luckily, my girlfriend had finished college and got a nice job. She help support us while I worked part-time.
It was hard work, but that makes it more worth it in the end.
No one gave me 2 million dollars.
All redesign efforts are funded by Xomba revenue.
There are pros and cons to venture capital. We just didn't think we could get any at the time.
Have you written your xombyte next week?:-)
Some of the originals are still here but in different forms. I remember the Good 'Ole Days when Antonia was posting about a bazillion poems a day, The greenness of the site, no purple monster/alien, before Les was born, The Orbs series, nasty fights on religion, Cara's posts on random halfway amusing stuff, and nobody making much money. Then somebody posted something I think about iron or recycling or something like that a got a bagillion hits and everything changed. For awhile it was a lot of Perez Hilton/TMZ stuff about Brit-Brit and the clan (mostly parodies).
The site has changed a lot since then and for the better in my opinion. The best thing was when Nick added the 'blurbs. The quality of the the posts are much better now then in the past and the huge amount of info on this site is amazing. I remember one xombapharian who just posted random one or two sentence bytes that made no-sense. AH, the good 'ole days. Just call Nick "Virginia Slim" 'cause he's come a long way baby.
Will we ever see pics of the reclusive Brett? I think he looks like this
Brett
Shirt says "Don't call me a Cowgirl until you've seen me ride"
Wow, that's awesome. I don't mean everything you went through, but how Xomba has flourished with such a risk to start. Either way, I am glad you took the risk :)
I find this all amazing!
You know what I think, I think in a few more years Xomba will become the next google. It already has information just about everything!
BTW, how did you come up with such a unique name?
Also, let me just get something straight-
Xomba Administrator= Nick
Xomba Moderator= Baldwin/Jeremy
So you both have two usernames? Believe it or not, I had thought you were all different people. I had thought the usernames I mentioned are four different people. lol.

Yes, thanks to Xomba I am able to pay for the installments for my new car. (at least half the amount).
Anything's possible here. Thanks Nick, for all the enthusiasm and for writing about this in your blog. I really hadn't expected it!
