Xomba Blog | Reads Vs. Clicks

Hey Everyone,

We wanted to touch on three things today. First, let's talk about Featured Writers.

We've updated the list over at our blog from last week. If you see that a category disappeared then it is full. Overall, we have tons more openings, but we will be expanding our search outside Xomba now.

Second, Nick has changed his username to Nick - Xomba CEO. While it might be a bit corny we thought we needed to take the ambiguity out of his name. (Yes, I am talking in the third person here).

Third, we've been seeing a lot of Bytes and Blurbs about getting paid online. What worries us is that a lot of these people are fly by night spammers who are trying to make a quick buck by referring you to a site. Let's talk about getting paid by posting articles.

Here's the facts:

1. Never pay money to write online. EVER EVER EVER. Matter a fact if you see someone post an article on Xomba about making money from home by you buying or paying for something then please flag it. It's a scam. ALWAYS!

2. Getting paid by reads vs. clicks. Some websites pay you per thousand reads. This is called CPM or cost per thousand. So if you are getting paid $3.50 CPM then you will make $3.50 for every thousand reads you get. While with a program like Google Adsense you get paid per click. Eventhough, you can still look at your earnings by CPM.

In almost every case Google Adsense pays more. Here's how I know. If we paid you guys by strictly CPM let's say at $3.50 then we would make a killing. Plain and simple. Of course most of these websites still use Google Adsense, so you know they know it works.

We're not trying to jump on the Google gravy train, but we've done hours of research and we can tell you that Google Adsense pays more. Period. Bottom line. End of discussion.

Those people who say it's a scam or not making money using it cannot fault Adsense. Beware of the paid for reads or paid by CPM business models. Making money from writing sites should not have a complicated pay formula either.

Here at Xomba we believe in being transparent. We think it is important for you to know exactly how we operate. We also believe that 50% is fair and we wish more websites would take that stance outside of the writing field.

3. Just like with the recent Facebook Terms of Service mishap make sure you retain the rights to your posted work. The last thing you want is someone selling your articles. Xomba does NOT own what you post. That means you ALWAYS OWN what you post on Xomba.

We want you to be loyal to Xomba. However, if you are going to use other writing sites or other make money from home sites we think you should know the facts.

Please do not comment below about specific websites. We're not trying to trash anyone. We just want to make sure you do research and use caution when jumping on the make money bandwagon.

Rage ... RAGE Against the Formula of the Pay! @Reg_Brittain

"Pay formulas are for the dogs!" Agreed! 'Pay-Formulas' are the tools of 'the devils' (the ideas that you have to HAVE 'so-much' or DO 'so-much' or have 'so-many' FANS in order to receive "money.") The way it should be? Site administrators handle ALL THE ACCOUNTING. Abmox IS NOT ACCOUNTABLE TO US; Abmox is only accountable to Abmox, and whatever pay we Xombies receive is NOTHING BUT WHAT ABMOX GIVES (FOR ABSOLUTELY NO REASON!) 'Reasons why' lead to a poverty mindset. Appreciation for the abundance Abmox gives-of is the flow of a Prosperity Mindset! ---Give Your Opinion Too!, & Google MIGHT find some extra money for you like they do for My Review of TheatreOCU's Recent Awesome! or http://www.mylot.com/mythman?ref=mythman

I'm Glad I Finally Read This!

This is very cool! I'm glad I finally read it. Complicated pay formulas are for the dogs, indeed!

That's Like What Rupert Murdoch Said on The Drudge Report@alet.0

The media baron (owner of News Corp., the company behind FOX, MySpace, and numerous other big-deal media) said, "There will be many who fall-short in quality in favor of quick money, but they will not survive when competing with more-efficient, less-expensive producers." or something. ---Joining Xomba FREE Helps Writers A LOT, but Google signs the checks for our writing about Buddhist Chant, Dr. Hot4Words, Happy Bounties~

Making money..

From a personal perspective, I am not posting articles on line to make money...yes ofcourse, a few dollars in my pocket honestly earned is always nice, however, the brands that will make it in tomorrows market will be those that maintain quality, thus delivering serious traffic in the months and years to come. Take a look at the valuable brands of yesteryear and how they are trying to maintain their market share in todays difficult climate and how they will do it because they have strict and rigorous guidelines when offering quality content. Everyday, there, are new online digital media offerings, I believe the ones that will succeed will be the ones that deliver quality... that's what i think anyway!!! Have a lovely day, the sun is shining here in Spain and I hope it is where you are too! If it's not, it soon will... Alethea Alethea

Don't get ahead of yourself

Becoming a gazillionaire might take some time. But if you keep writing and improving your site you should earn enough to keep your bunny living the lifestyle to which he or she has become accustomed.

You are correct, sir. Just a

You are correct, sir. Just a week or so ago, I had made five dollars in just two clicks on my website. And I know for a fact that I did not get 1,000 reads...more like 100. But hey - I'm just starting. The page impressions have been slowly picking up, and I'm hoping to get my first Google check soon. When I do, it will go into improving my site and its visibility. Then I'll be a gazillionaire, just like CEO Nick. Who is Publius? What is Rational Liberty? How do I join Xomba and get PAID to write?

Spell Check

You know it was originally slated to be offered. I'll look into it. However, Firefox has a built in spell check. If you wanted to change browsers.

Mentioning no Names...

A site I used before deafing it (which means shunning it in these parts) seems to pay by CPM but the CPM varies according to topic and seemingly not the value of the usually non-contextual ads they serve. For instance History pays pants CPM whereas Astrology pays History x 3. The comments there are lame too.

I still don't want to be your buddy Mythman but

sometimes you crack me up - which means "laugh a lot" in these parts... Is it intentional or just when the muse visits? I know this could evoke a response but who cares? After my last debarcle (sp?). PS will there be a spellcheck on Xomba the New?

Reads vs. Clicks

Yeah, I'll take the clicks any day. Sites that pay based on CPM give you a flat rate per thousand impressions (I'm guessing), whereas a click can potentially pay a lot more. One click can be a penny (or less), or it could be a dollar (or more). I'll stick with the clicks.
