Xomba Blog: SEO Friendly Titles
posted November 6, 2009 - 12:46pmHey guys,
This is the final reminder that the Xomba Dream Job Contest ends on Monday, November 9th. Make sure to submit your entries before time is up.
This blog will be dedicated to informing you about how to make money and generate more traffic to your Xombytes. These tips can be applied to Xomblurbs as well but they are especially important for Xombytes.
Are you writing numerous Xombytes but not seeing any profit from them? Have you taken a good look at your title? Your title is very important in the make money process. Without a title that is search-able, you will not receive much traffic from search engines. These titles are referred to as SEO (Search Engine Optimization) friendly titles.
What does all this mean? Well if you were looking for a great Brownie recipe what would you search for? You would probably search for "Easy Brownie Recipes" or "Simple Walnut Brownie Recipes". You probably wouldn't search for "Best Recipe of the Year" or "What a great Recipe".
If you are going to write a story about horseback riding...what would you title it? The first thing you really need to think about is "if I was interested in horseback riding what would I search for?" Whatever your answer is...that should be your title.
We at Xomba, more than anything, would like to see you succeed and enjoy Xomba to its fullest. Xombytes can definitely make money, you just need to make sure to concentrate first and foremost on your title. Without a title that people will search for, there may be very few people who actually end up reading your article. If you would like more traffic to your article and/or make more money you need to think about if your title is search-able.
Make sure to look for more advice on SEO in the upcoming Xomba Blogs.
Do you still have questions about SEO friendly titles? You are more than welcome to contact us at anytime about this topic, or anything Xomba related for that matter.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Titles
Snubba- "I try to follow this advice when I choose titles and usually get pretty good traffic, especially if the title is short. Keep out any unnecessary words and use those key words to optimize search."
Your title should be anywhere between 5 and 9 words. Something that is specific but uses enough key words to make your article unique.

nice tips. I should apply it.
Of course...
if you can get high readership and click through figures you're better off than in either of the hypothetical cases quoted below...
(don't you think comments should be original too? Or are you of the school of thought "anything (even copying what was said two minutes ago without quoting its source) is better than nothing?" If you are, no matter what the title Google won't rank you)

Learn SEO from example
When I started here I looked at what successful Xombas were doing. I spent a few hours looking at their Xombytes and Xomblurbs and found those with huge readership figures - then I analysed them. Titles that seemed to work most were often simple and/or expressed exactly what the article was actually about - like you say in this post, they were what people would put into a search engine.
I reckon this is only half the story though. Many of my articles with high readership figures are not as profitable as those with fewer readers. For example, an article with 1000 reads which only has a click through rate of.05% is not as profitable as another article with 50 reads and a click through rate of 50%
