Xomba Blog: So Close Yet So Far Away

Hey Everyone,

*UPDATE* We moved the IM block to your My Inbox page. This should help with unwanted spam.

Unfortunately, we've ran into a few problems with the launch of the redesign. It has been quite a frustrating month and besides being angry I am slightly ashamed that we are not finished yet.

That's the bad news. The good news is that we're still 90% done.

We love the new site. Which frustrates us more that we can't just finish it.

We don't have a timetable right now, but we're working hard to complete the project.

Just bear with us and know that we are working hard.

In other news...

There was talk earlier in the week about press credentials for featured writers.

We'd be happy to assist featured writers in obtaining press credentials, but that is not an easy feat.

We'd be happy to work with featured writers on an individual basis.

We'll be in touch as soon as we have an update on the project.

Thank you for your patience! We won't let you guys down.

IM spam? Never a real problem for me. It won't fit in IM length

The spam I get ends up in the My Inbox portion, where, now, you have moved the IM. These messages truly show I am loved by many, many mysterious and virtually illiterate primitive women from all over the world! I know they love you too, from just your profile!! I've gotten over the jealousy of sharing their love with you and others, and have simply enjoyed the radiant glow their messages impart to me. Yeah, sure. I have assumed, usually, that they have spammed your inbox as well and so I do not clutter Jeremy's or the system complaint inbox with details. I figure you guys have blocked them by the time I get around to sending a message. On the Site Update? Years back programming, starting before you were born, I mostly did science or engineering kinds of stuff. I know how convoluted blocks of code can become. Algol was one that unless you left yourself lots of remark details, you would not know what you coded a week later, let alone a year. All the modules had to fit together. And yeah, I would solve one problem and create others. That I why I ask you about bugs or features. Anyway, someday it will be let loose. That said. there are so many examples where "patience" and forbearance are commodities here, I hesitate of mention them all. Things that used to work simply do not now. I know about "tables," That is, I look forward to the time when the usual HTML of tables can be re-instituted so that all the tables I have created and published here can be displayed once more and the others can copy and use them for their value to discussions and debates. I am hopeful. "Entities" have stopped working as they used to, regular HTML versions, no longer work. Description--You Type--You Get Ampersand & & Greater than > > Less than < < Quotation mark " " Well, some of them work, some don't As it is, the "copyright" entity symbol and the "registered" TM trademark symbol entities are also gone. Or at least I have not figured out how to reinstate them. On the images, even following the approach here it seems to be inconsistent. However, I look forward to the future, that "promised land," where all these will be solved. I am hoping we can just get Back to the Future, where my images for postings do not all have to be re-coded again. Patience is infinite? Keep up the work. One of my long ago engineering programs had bugs that we often turned into features.

Don't be hard on yourselves

You guys shouldn't stress yourself too much. You have worked hard on this site and you're at the end of perfecting it. So I think if anything, you should give yourselves a pat on the back. BTW, I too am glad that the IM is in my inbox now. More about me Free Webhosting Get cashback when shopping

Thanks so much! My Xomba Page

Us Xombies are a patient lot

So don't feel too pressured! We all look forward to the new site and it seems you have everybody's full backing - I don't think we're the pitch-fork carrying types anyway. Press credentials - the idea is intriguing to say the least. I wonder what kind of access it could open up for those interested....things like PAX, maybe? - you know, as an example...but maybe it would be a US thing only? I think the new changes will certainly encourage everyone to be at their best when it comes to writing for ye Xombie overlords ^_^ Many thanks!
