Xomba Blog | Voting, Reading, Spamming & User Points *UPDATED*

Good Morning,

Hope those of you in the States had a pleasant 3-day weekend. Jeremy moved to a new apartment over the weekend and we pitched in to help. Nothing beats carrying a couch up the stairs.

Some of you have been posting about voting and the importance there of. We've decided to NOT include any posts about Xomba in the Top 10 posts. They will still be listed in the Xomba category, but not in the overall section.

The point of Xomba is not to write about Xomba. We love the praise you guys give us, but we want to reward those who write things that are non-Xomba related.

With that being said we still want you to post your ideas and tips as long as you shoot us a message letting us know about them. We will NO LONGER allow you to post ads for Xomba anymore. This does not include testimonials or sharing your experience, but rather we ask you to refrain from posting Xombytes that basically advertise Xomba. This is spamming.

Please do not fudge your Adsense amount to users. If you are a new user and you post that you are making lots of money on Xomba be prepared to receive an email from us. It saddens me that individuals would try to "trick" people into thinking that you can be rich using Xomba. If you see a user who has only been on the site for several weeks you should ignore any report on how much money they make. You can view a user's profile to see how long they've been a member. I'm not picking on anybody specifically. I just want to make sure you guys understand that after 1 month of using Xomba the odds of you making over $10 a day are slim. Not impossible, but definitely not the average.

Please understand we want you to keep posting about Xomba. We encourage you to share your ideas, tips and experiences with the community. Keep commenting on them as well. We try to read and respond to them all.

The general rule to keep in mind if you don't hear from us then there is no problem.

Thank you who post your wonderful stories about using Xomba.

You might find these reads useful and entertaining.

Next Monday we reveal a new front page.

I'll be talking about that later this week.

Take care,

*UPDATE*

We have received lots of questions from our new users about User Points and what they are all about. Previously we had user User Points for contests so that we can determine how many Xomblurbs someone has written. Now, we have update the point system and made sort of a power ranking for Xomba users. Here is how the points are given out:

1 point for voting on a Xombyte/Xomblurb
2 points for leaving a comment
2 points for adding an image to your post
3 points for posting a Xomblurb
5 points for posting a Xombyte

These points are not going to be used in a contest at this time. They are merely a way for people to see who are the true Xomba Freaks out there. Anyone can view the list in their left navigational menu. Right now it is just called User Points but we will try and think of a catchy name later. Ideas are appreciated!

Thanks,
Jeremy

I Know, 'The Love I Share is the Viral Mustard-Seed'

Maybe that's putting it a little too-bluntly; it sounds a lot better the way Jesus puts it.

Nick Is an Excellent Example of "Being Heard's" Awesomeness

Nick knows that you are not truly part of the public conversation until you make a comment. It's not that we don't let people comment (if you are among the few who can't comment, use this link to 'grow some cojones' lol), so the only thing that's stopping you is yourself! Join Xomba to prove me wrong ... that you're not such a pansy loser!

No time for love, Dr. Jones

Professor Henry Jones: Well, he who finds the Grail must face the final challenge. Indiana Jones: What final challenge? Professor Henry Jones: Three devices of such lethal cunning. Indiana Jones: Booby traps? Professor Henry Jones: Oh yes. But I found the clues that will safely take us through, in the Chronicles of St. Anselm. Indiana Jones: But what are they? [pause] Indiana Jones: Can't you remember? Professor Henry Jones: I wrote them down in my Diary so that I wouldn't *have* to remember.

I see now

Ok, my mistake. After reading your comment for a third time I see what you are saying. Seriously Methman, I'm starting to feel like either Indiana Jones reading Hieroglyphics or Batman analyzing puzzles from the Riddler. You make the pick.

No

I have no idea what Mythman is talking about. (sigh) No such thing as "better" ranked. It is just a fun system to compare your points to the activity of others. There are no positive or negative effects. It is not a contest. Just friendly competition. :)

I Would Compare It to 'a Penny a Day'

That is, if you save a penny a day for your whole life, it won't amount to much---but people will know you're committed to saving in the money-world. Here in the Xomba-World, people will know you're committed to contributing by looking at your point-balance.

OK. Got it now. Thanks.

Points

You will only earn points for things you have written since we reset the points. You lose points when you delete posts so I'm guessing he deleted some old stuff that he had written.

I don't follow how the points system works. If it's 5 points for posting a xombyte, and so on, I wonder why I've only got 6 points in total, having written a number of xombytes. Then I see some users actually got -5 points! How did they achieve that?

Some People

Some people have managed to make thousands a month. The 2000 dollar article is true as well, but it didn't happen over night.
