Xomba Blog | Xomba Workshop *Transcript Now Available*

The Workshop will being at 7 PM in the box below.

Here are the details of the 2nd official Xomba Workshop:

The workshop will take place on Tuesday November 11th at 7:00 PM Eastern Time.

The workshop will take place right here on Xomba. It will be conducted through a live blogging program which we will embed into a Xombyte when the workshop begins. The blogging program serves as a kind of chat room except that we can control when questions are submitted.

Please come prepared to ask questions and learn a thing or two about Xomba. If you cannot make it to the workshop, the transcripts of it will be available so that you can still get any information that you might have missed.

And now, as I so often like to do, I will leave you with a cute and funny animal picture. This is what an anteater looks like in a tshirt. Enjoy :)

PSA's

Seems like Google is having some trouble with Adsense right now but it is affecting all websites, not just Xomba so no worries.

Blurbs

I try to write as much about the website, video, article or whatnot I am blurbing. I look at the page, digest the info, write about what you will find when you go to that page. Sometimes I post a short one because there is only so much to say. "Here you can download the free iPhone Theme Monkeys in Pyjamas. Customize the look of your iPhone with the Monkeys in Pyjamas theme. Follow the link provided below to download your free mobile theme... (Add Screenshot here)" Others are probably longer than most Bytes. A couple of times I started writing a blurb and switched to writing a byte by the time I was finished because It developed into something else. Do I like to get +s and comments? Sure! Why not? Everyone likes a little validation every now and again. However, I'd rather have a blurb about the Jack Skellington pumpkin carving template with only my +1 and 5000 reads in a couple of weeks, than posting a poem or a personal story and getting 20 votes and 40 reads. If I had the time, I would probably post more personal bytes, but for now, I'll continue on with the blurbs and try to write as much content as I can I'm glad that blurbs will be going up to 50 word minimums although I have seen some shorties with LOTS of reads. (I can't imagine ever writing a blurb with content like "ww.yougoherenow.com the official website of yougoherenow") Let SBI! turn you into a high-earning affiliate champion.

@m~7-me--Not "Bookmarkings" in the 'Digg'-Sense

When Nick said "essentially bookmarkings" (whether he knew it or not), he meant bookmarkings like those you actually save on your own browser ... bookmarkings you have "reason(s) for bookmarking". You want to use that reason(s) in your description/summary of the site. ---Uncle MythMan (http://www.geocities.com/jmythh2k5) & we Xombies Help You GET PAID if You Help Us! @Mythman

"Xomba Nick: Ok, start writing about celebrity gossip. Follow sites like TMZ and Entertainment Weekly. Then blurb what they put up. Essentially, bookmarking" So blurbs are bookmarkings! But yes, if I had show someone my last 5 posts, I would cringe if they were one-liners. So that way, I get your point Myth. BTW, the loss is all Digg's. @Wdzzz-mamamia07--Maybe 'Describe' is the Wrong Word

Maybe a closer word is "summarize," as in 'summarize your experience of the site you're `blurbing.' Oftentimes when reading a `blurb, I don't even OPEN the site that's blurbed. The `blurbed site is relatively 'nothing but an inspiration for Xombie-discussion!' ---Uncle MythMan (http://www.geocities.com/jmythh2k5) & we Xombies Help You GET PAID if You Help Us! @mamamia07--XOMBlurbs ARE NOT 'Just Bookmarks'

Sure, many people believe they ARE and won't change the thought no matter HOW many times we remind them; just like I can't get the 'Hank Williams Jr. in the Sky'-picture of God out of my head no matter HOW many times I repeat that`E is so much more than that! Xomblurbs--in their full manifestation--are 'expressed understandings of websites' content.' The practice of 'Xomblurbs as Bookmarks' is so temptingly easy (and seems to create so much more content) that many Xombies 'fall to the Dark Side' and pack the web here with otherwise-blank address-pages. (That's why 'Digg' had/has banned xomba.com from ITS pages.) That's one of the bad things about instant, unstandardized publishing; there may be no other way to experience the finest wine, but you also have to taste a lot of yak refuse. ---Uncle MythMan (http://www.geocities.com/jmythh2k5) & we Xombies Help You GET PAID if You Help Us! Re: Xomblurbs

I haven't read through the transcript so I didn't know about that, but I would think it shouldn't be too hard to get to 50 words... you can write about whatever the product is; the coupon or company Web site probably has some info on it, like "Wheat Thins comes in 5 delicious flavors, including our new Anchovie-and-Strawberry Blend."

Glad

Glad we kept it so exhilarating. :)
